Headed there this weekend and want to get an update report on both the Mexican situation( danger in Mexican waters) and how the bass fishing is doing. Is there a top water bite yet?
Thanks for any info. If you prefer you can PM me. Thanks again. flag

As far as danger there isn't any yet at least. As far as fishing, I have done horrible lately but a friend of mine has done OK with a black ribbit frog in the morning (2 -2.5 lbs)and 10 - 20' on a t-rigged 10" yamamoto cuttail worm not sure the color though. Good luck as fishing should be getting better pretty soon.

Leary about goin to the Mexican side but I will be cautious if I do go. Won't go to deep into the Mexican creeks/branches. I hope the fishing is better though.Long way to go for slow fishing.... Anyone else that fished it lately? Thanks

I fished last weekend on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. We did catch some fish way up past Cow Creek Saturday on brush hogs and crank-baits. Sunday we fished 454 then San Pedro with no luck and moved up towards the devils river and found some on senkos watermelon with chartreuse tail. My wife out fished me she caught a 5.5 and I had some 2 to 3 pound fish. HA!

Water is clearing up, I did not see the tea stain water from the flood since the last time I went. thumb

Absolutely had zero problems in MX. I have fished over there all year, alone and with clients. Been checked by MX. authorities for a Lic. 2 times and no issues there either. I chat with the mexican fisherman in Burro and Zorro on occasion and they are no problems their either. I do keep an eye out on any wierd activity had have seen none. I have never been in a situation were I felt theatened or in any danger. I think you should feel comfortable but just be aware of your surroundings as you would anywhere in the U.S.

Thinking about making a dash down to Amistad tomorrow with my two boys... Where can I go put my kids on some early topwater action? Is the deepwater midday bite ok now... dropshots?? Drifting?? Haven't been down there in two years so any tips would be appreciated.

Im taking my dad up there next friday for the weekend, very excited! Im from south TX and mostly fish Falcon and Choke, but I fell in love with Amistad this year after 2 tournys there with the south TX five. Amistad is one of the coolest lakes I have ever been to. Big bass, smallies, clear water, rocks, and grass; plus the lake is huge.

I love all of the different fishing techniques you can do out there as well! You can fish in 40 ft with a jig or drop shot, or you can go up in a creek and fish a senko or throw a topwater! One day you can finesse em with small lure and line, the next day you can pound em on heavy line dragging 12 inch plastics. Its great!!!

We will be staying at the Angler's Lodge! I have a dark F150 Lariate Truck and a 18 ft white skeeter! Come hollar at us if you see us, maybee we can get a little friendly pot tourny going or something!

Good luck!
