Do as they said, but instead of what your throwing, throw a Spro or H20 frog, and you'll get much better hookups. I get about 9 out of 10. I actually use a Bobby's Perfect Frog, which has bigger hooks. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Snag_Proof_Bobbys_Perfect_Frog_12oz/descpage-SPPF.html#multiview
Also, always use braid. I use a medium heavy rod with a fast tip, and once they take it under, I set the hook hard. You don't want to use mono or FC.

9 out of 10 knock mine out of the water, I think they take a class on slapping it with their tail to make it look like a strike.

I know why I miss on frogs. No matter how much I try to get ready for them to explode on the frog when it happens I still $hit all over my self and my deck. flush

Funny thing I just read an article in Bassmaster from Dean Rojas and he says he usually sets the hook on impact. He says he gets a better hook up because on a frog bite they usually inhale it on impact. He does say that sometimes he will wait but not often.

If you don't use braid for anything else, use it for frogs.
