I recently bought a couple flutter spoons and was wondering if anyone puts a swivel on the spoon itself to control any line twist. If so what size swivel should i go with.
thanks

I do and it helps alot. I cant remember which size. It also helps sometimes to put an additonal hook with a feather on the line and let it slide up and down. Alot of fish will swipe at it and the additional hook will help.

I love spoons for bass in the weeds and whew they are killers in the pads! If your using the spoon for trolling then yes tie on a swivel about 4 feet above the lure. Use the in-line swivel without the snap. Kinda like a car-rig. If your using it for casting just tie a loop knot with about a 1/4" or size loop and you should be fine. The swivel adds resistance and the action is changed and the spoon will not flutter right. The fluttering spoon is where 99% of your bites come so I would not want to mess with that too much. You are going to get line twist no matter how much you try but it should be minimal with a loop knot. Slow down the retrieve and do not burn it in the boat at the end of reeling it in because the faster you reel the higher chance of line twist. Matter of fact I used to get bites on that spoon all the way to the boat so just slow it down and you should be fine. Here is a good site for learning the knot. http://www.netknots.com/html/non_slip_loop_knot.html
Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit!! It is when pirates count their booty that they become mere thieves. ARRRRRR....

I use a spoon a lot on Fork and I tie a swivel about 1.5-2` above the spoon. I`ve also gotten lazy and just tied a snap swivel (The good ones) on and snapped it right to the spoon. Worked just as good and the fish didn`t seem to care.

Yeah swivels work great, I tie one about 2 foot up and it will save a lot of line twist and chaving.

Man really the same swivels I use on my C-rigs.......
I don't think size maters but a big enough one if you hang a toad all will be kept intact.

When I fish spoons I rig every one with a split ring and swivel directly to the spoon to stop line twist.
