Guess I'll keep going to Newmans till the run is over. Got a bad case of white bass fever, what can I say. Read the post Judge put on here this morning and it looked so good, I packed up my gear and took off. Got there at 2:15pm. The water was a little muddy, but not to bad. The current was just a tad bit stronger than norm. Started out with the usual, 1/32oz. white jig, caught 5 in 30 minutes, which I thought was slow. With the winds we had today, I noticed that it would catch my line and blow it all over the place, which messed up the jig presentation to the fish. Therefore I changed to a 1/16oz. jig, and was able to get it closer to the bottom and deliver a better presentation which triggered more bites. By 4:00pm I had 20 on the stringer and they just quit biting all together, or that's what I thought at the time. Then I got to thinking, maybe there just not on the move right now, and I caught all the fish that were staged in those two holes I was fishing. So I moved down to the next hole, and started pulling them in one after another again. Caught 30 in all before I quit. Now for the cool part. As I arrived at my truck, there were two gentlemen that were just about to leave. They saw me riding up with two stringers of fish I had on my bike, and one them noticed my bike from a pic I had posted a couple of days ago, and they came over to ask me where I was fishing, what I was using, and all that good stuff. Then one of them asked me if I posted messages on the internet, and I told him yes, why? He said that his buddy had told him as I drove up on my bike, hey, that's the bike I saw on the internet. The funny part is, that one of the guys had just told the other one (which was the one reading the post on here) I guess when they were on there way to Newmans this morning, that you can't believe everything that people post on the internet, because they just type whatever they want ya to hear. He also told me, after what he saw today, he now belives in the messages that are posted on here. Cool huh??? Gotta go for now. Keep the updates coming in. ------------------

Got out to NB about a half hour before sunrise. A few of the locals took me down to the creek. I caught a couple right off the bat (within the first hour I was there). I spent most of my time, however, exploring and rigging up because I'd lose a lure every other cast it seemed (others were having the same problem). The water was murky, so I couldn't see any of the submerged brush stealing my jigs. The bite was slow from the cold front. Wondered down stream toward the lake pretty far and almost walked right up to a drift of 20-30 ferrell hogs with maybe a dozen offspring, so I turned around. I ended up leaving around 10am, and everybody I talked to on the way back said that the bite had completely stopped. Maybe next time I'll see fishytx, and he can show me those hot holes. I went to both nails and newmans today. Caught 12 all together. I was surprised that my boat made it all the way into newmans without a problem. The bite was few and far between. Hopefully in the next few days it will pick up. I think I'm going back monday.

This morning was cold and the bite was kind of slow but worth the trip! George took me back up into the Yegua by 9am and fished all day Saturday moving upstream almost to Newmans Bottom by 3pm then started back down and out of the creek by 6pm. We caught fish most all day - one here and another there. It was slower today then usual but the fish were still in there and we seemed to be catching on average one fish about every 15 minutes or so. I was using some jig/streamer that I had tied up during the week and George was using the usual curly tail jigs.. we didn't limit out but came pretty close..

Boy, I sure am having a hard time trying to decide where to go fishing tomorrow. I took my new boat to Fayette today, and caught 18 blacks. Nothing under 3 pounds. Lost one at the boat that would have gone 7-8 pounds. Lost another big fish, but never got to see it. It hit the line and never stoped. I might have gotten to see it, if I hadn't put my big dumb thumb on the spool to try to slow it down. All that did was put more tension on the line and it snapped. Sounded like a gun went of. Just from typing this message, I'm getting all excited about todays trip all over again. When ever I would pull up and leave, boats arround me were doing the same, and they would follow me. Guess they wanted to see my hot spots. I'll try to make it down to Newmans Sunday, what the heck. The white bass run should last for another 7 weeks. Yesterday, I gave all my bass to those guys that I was talking to at the truck. Getting a little tired of cleaning fish. More than likely I'll give all the fish I catch Sunday away too. See you all down there. ------------------

I was also in Yegua Saturday afternoon. You guys may have ran across me. My son and I were in the Tracker bass boat. We got a late start, about 11am and headed out around 3:30. We ended up with 6 keepers.

fishytx, Be careful about giving away fish that you have caught.. to be right with the law you need to fill out this form from TPWD http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/hunt/regs/wldresdoc.pdf just print up a few and keep them on you just in case.. it's a minor thing but could be very important.. I use to give away lots of fish but seldom do it anymore.. big brother (Game Warden) is always watching...

I have a 15' silver Grumann canoe with a 6 horse on the back. It's got a trolling motor mounted to the front. It's perfect for running up rivers and creeks.

I received a fine from TPWD last year after I had given away some trout to an older gentleman. One warden had been spying on my friend and myself from across the river while another warden was undercover, fishing alongside of us. We both received tickets and a nice little fine to go along with it. I didn't know it was illegal to give game away. Learned that one the hard way. As hook-line said, they're always watching.

Everyone also needs to be aware that if you continue to fish after you have your limit on the stringer you are in violation as well. These laws are put in place in part to help preserve the population of game during the peak harvest times, like when the whitebass are stacked up thick in the creeks and easier to catch.. I've often wondered what some people do with all the fish they catch.. I know of some guys that must be feeding half of Houston with all the fish they catch and they fish everyday!
