Has anyone been down to the creeks today? If so are they too muddy to fish?

I just checked the creek at Newman Bottom this morning and the water is still clear.
Take your bikes or wagons if you are planning to go there during the next week because the gate will be closed at least through the weekend and most, if not all of next week. I will try to post on this thread when we open it again.

Judge, Thanks for that input, I want to go out there, but didn't know if it would be muddy or not. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to drive there from here (Katy) and several times now I've stayed home because I figured the water was too muddy, then later I read peoples' posts here who went and caught whites. It's really nice of you and other posters to tell what the conditions are like at Newman. Best regards, Porky Going tomorrow.

Thanks for the report, Judge.
The weather channel is calling for a low of 29 in the morning. How do you guys think this will effect the fishing?

Don't know, Rog, just that I am tired of not going. Might take my wife and two bikes... Probably late morning. By the way, if you ever want to use that little boat, call me, you're welcome to come by and take it out anytime. Porky

I can't keep myself from this place any longer. I hope this cold weather doesn't affect the bite too much!!! I've been reading with amazement these posts on Newman Bottom. I've fished the San Gabriel in various locations throughout the years, but the run is a little slow this year due to the dangerously low water levels. I, too, am from Austin and would like to drive up to Newman Bottom on Sat. I would also like to be there early (that 6am shot w/ rogc sounds good to me); I like to get there before too many people show up. I've never been before, so I'm not so sure on the directions I've got. So if anybody from Austin that actually knows the quickest way is willing to meet around 4am, drop me a line: brandonwalther@hotmail.com. I will also check in on this thread periodically because I'm stoked about conquering some new territory . Sportsman, I'll be representing the Circleville crew by myself Sat. (Big Chief has backed out) so I'll definately post. I hope to have good news and to see you out there on Sunday! [This message has been edited by KillerB (edited 02-06-2004).]
