how does a flipping reel differ from a bait casting reel? is there any way you can flip and pitch a bait casting reel?

Yeah you can flip and pitch with any baitcasting reel. flipping reels are baitcasters with a smaller inline spool like the Ardent Flip and Pitch F-500, the line guide is stationary on these types of reels so the line comes off easier, allowing you to flip a bait further.

But I would recommend just using a good baitcasting reel.

that's cool. i understand how the line guide being stationary would help, but you can only flip so far. what about any spin casting reels bc the line comes off freely?

Personally I dont use spinning gear to flip anything, but I have seen people use it especially on smaller jigs and such. If your serious about fliping just practice and have a good reel and you may be surprised how far you will be able to flip accurately.
