I think he means heading straight NNE to 515 bridge. If you look at the Martin's Map you can go a little north of LFM and head ENE to the north point of Clarkson, it is clear there if you stay away from timber line to the south. Following the boat lanes chip takes you on a questionable path through what used to be timber, which is more or less okay when the lake is full.

On the other hand going south to the Mustangs there is a slight possibility of encountering one or two stray stumps. smile

Pretty sure the boat lane chip hits between the green point and bridge. If my boat was in the driveway I'd look at it, but its in my boat storage. IF it was in my driveway it might have floated off, its rained a ton in Pearland today.

I've seen some of the guys, probably guides come out of LFM and hang a right going south, guess they are running in a guide lane (for advanced users)

All I can do is line my extended pointer up on the way points on Lances chip and run B to B. I am sure enough amature when it come to running Fork.

Thanks, Billy

Dang Vince thats a bum deal. Hope you get it fixed sooner rather than later. I'm just a little further down the street so if I can help let me know as well. In the mean time, we can always hit that pond you see me at.

That is what they call a guide lane, but it`s marked on the boat lanes chip, too. I run it all the time and haven`t hit anything, yet. The margin for error isn`t as big as it is running an actual boat lane.

correct on the run to the south. I ran it two weeks ago and hadn't been on the lake in over a month. There is a tree top heading out of LFM and turning south on that run, but it is marked with a couple white plastic bottles. Dang near hit two different stumps cutting across the mouth of Big Mustang. Seems as though there were a couple buoys missing there, or way out of place, too.

As for the run across the lake, I don't want to say any more for fear of misguiding someone.

I have Lance's boat lanes chip and would encourage everyone that has GPS to buy it and use it. These runs I mentioned I have been making for years, long before the buoys or boatlanes.com

However, I was in an area of the lake where I have not been in years and swung wide on the boat lane. Had I been looking at the boatlanes track on my graph I would have been ok. Instead, I did $13k damage to my boat after hitting a stump and then running over a buoy.

I never look at the lanes on my graph but I will guarantee you I will be from now on. And you had better be running your lines very tight. Just like in the mouth of Big Mustang, had I been just a bit further to the right, I would have been out of commission much sooner!

The adjuster for Progressive said they have had a rash of claims from Lake Fork recently, almost all of them are "impact collisions"

Hahahaha I like that Tom, the margin for error isn't as big....

Saturday, with the northeast wind blowing across there the stumps would appear then disappear making that turn to get back in the big mustang lane..... not good.

For sure pucker factor when the lake is this low.

That`s what I`m afraid of. I like running the guide route during the McDonalds because not many people use it. But when it gets this low I get really nervous anywhere I go.

If you dont have the pucker power turned up on high right now....you should!

I'm just speaking from experience!

If the lake drops another foot....the nastiness of the run that hits the pump house, chicken ridge and then on to dale will scare a few folks! That is really a much tighter run than folks think as well.

As previously mentioned....get Lances chip and slow down too...you cant be too carefull.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

if anyone is marking some of these oh-s*** stumps, especially in the 'boat lanes' this would be a good time to post up some coordinates.. If that lake doesn't get some water pretty quick, McDonald's is going to have quite a few more horror stories than usual.

At this point, I'd rather see it drop another foot. Man if it rises a foot...

When leaving LFM running across to the bouys, I always line up on that tall antenna across the lake. Is this a good path or have I just been lucky all these years. If going to the Mustangs I run the guide cut on the Boat Lane Chip.

Vince, I know how you feel you have my sympathy. The Fork Stump Monster took out my lower unit on a 225 Opti. I was very grateful for good insurance.
