For those of you who receive the Bass Pro Shop (BPS) flyer: What do you think about that Garmin GPS unit on the fist page? Good deal, just OK, spend a few bucks more and get another kind, etc.
I really don't know much about these but from what I have heard, they seem to be a pretty popular tool out on the water. I've been saving up some $$$ for a while and may get it if you all think that it is too good to pass up. If not, I'm in no hurry and can wait for another day.
Thanks for your opinion in advance.

P.S., Sorry for the cross posting. But it's the opinion of the people in this group that mean the most to me.
Thanks,

No responses... Well, that answers my question. I'll pass on the GPS.

If you are talking about the Garmin 168 sonar/gps combo on sale for 499 it is a deal. I have had one for a couple years and love it. For the money it is a good deal if bps still has it. I just picked up a lcx-18c yesterday and am going to go try it out today. It was origanally 1299 and was on sale for 799.

I haven't seen the flyer but I have a Garmin gps72. It is a great tool for marking and navigating back to waypoints. It is about 160 bucks. It doesn't have enough memory to put a map in but it will hold 500 waypoints and has been a very helpful and accurate fishing tool. I also have a lowrance lcx 15 graph/gps combo that has lake maps and all the bells and whistles. I still like the garmin gps72 because I can carry it with me anywhere I go. In my opinion a gps is a must have for any open water fisherman or hiker. It is also very helpful when fishing a new lake for navigating back to your launch site if you stay out past daylight.

I believe he is talking about the Garmin GPSMAP76 on the front page of the flyer. It shows $299, on sale for $249 with a $50 rebate making it $199. It shows to have 8 MB of memory for additional downloads. I'm assuming you can use the coupon on top of that??

I have the GPSMAP76S. Bought it several years ago. It has the lake mpas in it and cost me near $500 back then. I really do like it. It is waterproof and floats. Also, holds more info than you will ever need. Sounds like a great deal to me.
The lcx 18x posted above is a great deal as well.
