If your planning on fishing here, you may as well stay home and get some chores done. The water is brown.

I grew up fishing Surfside jetty, and this time of year two things matter water clarity and water movement. The channel side is usually going to be cleaner than the beach side unless there is a heavy rain, and then it will turn into chocolate milk. Right now the channel should be decent. This time of year we have strong out going tides in the evening, and that is when you want to fish if the beach side is brown. When the conditions are like you discribed I go back at about 3pm walk ALL THE WAY to the end of the jetty, and watch to see which side the bait is stacked up on, you may need polarized glasses to get the best view. Trout and BIG Spanish Mackerel usually kick in to high gear from 4pm until the sun goes down. I can't count the number of times people have told me nothing was biting, and I walk to the end of the jetty where Spanish Mackerel coming out of the water after bait. I fish under a cork about 4 to 8 feet down with live shrimp, live mullet, or live shad which ever is available. Silver Minnow spoons 1/4 or 1/2 oz will also work if you dont want to mess with carring live bait that far.

Fished Surfside surf yesterday-muddy water out well past third gut and chest high waves...made for a long day of not catching fish. Gulp shrimp under popping cork, live mullet on bottom, and finally live shrimp under cork with NO bites to show for it. Fished around Access 3.

Took my dad out surf fishing at Quintana Saturday and we caught 18 Whiting, 2 Sharks, and a Redfish. It was a blast. We fished from about 8am to 12pm. Sharks were caught on a surf rod on fresh cut shad, as well as a huge whiting. The rest we caught on live shirmp in the first gut. We missed a few. Water looked pretty decent. it was clear enough to see where to bars and the guts were at.

If the wind does not kick up after this front blows through the water should stay decent. The water has been sandy green (more green sandy) all week. So, keep your fingers crossed.

Very high tides mixed with wind proved to be a pain in my side...

The Brazos River across the street from Brazosprot High School by the Football Stadium would have been your best bet with the lights until we got all this rain. The water was beautiful. Sunday night they were catchin two trout at a time fising under lights with shad rigs. I don't know what it looks like now, but when the surf is jacked up, and if the river is clear that is the go to spot.
