There are no Striped Bass in Weatherford. However, I do catch a few small hybrids from time to time. There is a large population of white and yellow bass. If you are looking for black bass, put in at the marina, and work the marina cove docks. Then work the rocky point to the north of the cove. Work the docks heading north to the powerplant. Then cut across the lake to Parker Point and work the cove. Follow the creek out with your sonar and find the intersection of the creek and the main river channel. A lot of big bass have been caught in this spot. Go back to the point and go south, working the docks, past a couple of creeks. You will come to a rocky retaining wall. The Wall is a hot spot and should be worked carefully all the way to the dam. Work the dam back up to the pump house buoys, and then skip the shallow bank and go back to the marina area. The little cove between the swimming area and the crappie house is good. If you are fishing for white bass get to the lake well before sun up. The area at the corner of the pump house buoys has an aerator which may or may not be working. If it is, the white bass stay there eating shad. Just at daybreak the sandies will start schooling there and work their way along the dam to the wall, then to the docks on the north side. They will stay on top only a few seconds at a time. The lure of choice is a soft plastic shad imitation about 3 inches long on a jig head. Bass assassin, Lil Fishie, and Gulp all work. If you are fishing for catfish try the wall. Small live sunfish work best for flatheads. Fresh shrimp(not frozen) or stink bait catch channels. A topo map of the lake is at Lake Weatherford map. . Good luck.

The Walleye never reproduced, and the stockers have gone long ago. As I remember, and I may be wrong, a Paradise bass is a hybrid between a White Bass and a Striped Bass. I still catch one every now and again. If you do be sure he is big enough to keep (18 inches).

Was there a fish kill lately. Used to catch tons of large sandies now barely big enough to keep. Always fish at night on sandbar on north side.10 years ago was nothing to catch tons of 16in sandies

There was no fish kill that I know of. However, what you are seeing is the result of no spawn two and three years ago. The lake was down 10 feet due to gross mismanagement by the city utilities board. Then the next year the lake was down and came up 4 feet overnight right during the spawn. So there was no significant spawn for two years. The fish from those years would have been full grown this year. Wait until next year. The yearling fish will be 2 years old and plentiful.
By the way, the person who was responsible for our lake nearly going dry went mad and killed his wife and kids in Iowa this past year. I always thought there was something wrong with that guy.

Smithhaven is right the sandbass used to be awsome and big, but the low water was bad and I remember when it filled up overnight the bass were in he middle of the spawn. The lake has been weird ever since but I think with it stayin full this year the will be better this year.
