Thought this was pretty cool to find a original ad from 1956 of my little creek boat. It is the top one the 14 ft Commander. Hard to believe it still gets me up and down the creek and it was built right here. http://www.fiberglassics.com/lonestar/lonestarb57003.jpg

Jwiggins,
Well I went yesterday and got on the water at 3:30 - I ended up catching 15 sandies but I had to work to get those 15 in the boat. The main bite didnt turn on until sundown.
FlyinTexas - I took my boat up 377 and a canoe/kayak would be an easy trip up the creek. In fact I would think its more hassle free than having to launch my boat at marshall creek park and drive way up the creek. Lauching a canoe at 377 would cut down on allot of time expended.

Where is Henrietta Creek? Is that the one that crosses 114?
You guys that have been going up and down Denton Creek...need some advice. I have a canoe now and want to get into some sandbass. I've thought about making a day trip out of it by floating Denton Creek from 35W to Marshall Creek. I figure it's easier to go downstream instead of fighting the current upstream. What do you think?

Cane Pole,
Thanks for the information and update. Yep, I to think it would be more hassle free with a paddle craft. And you wouldn't have to be worried about messing up a prop or lower unit.
Saltfork,
Yes, Henrietta Creek crosses on 114. From the posting's on this board you could drop in at 35W, but you will have a few portage's as you go down river. As far as going upstream from 377, I doubt you would have to really fight much current unless we get a whole lot of rain. I have checked some of the lake level/stream flow web sites and it seems the flow on Denton Creek out of Justin is around 200 cfs or less during normal times. Granted this could change with some rain. I am looking at going up river so if I do come across a portage area that I don't want to attempt then I could fish and/or turn around and float back to the launch point with no worry's.
I have not done this trip yet or fished this section of the creeks. So I have only been reading about this place. However, I did stop by on Monday at the Hwy 377 Denton Creek crossing and I could not really see much of a current or heavy flow on the water.
Also, water seems a little murky from some of the other White Bass run's that I do or have done over the years in Texas. I guess fishing the Hill Country for 20 year's I have been spoiled on Gin Clear/Green Clear water's. But, I guess I need to be more open minded and take that short drive over there. Some times we over look the fishing spots just down the street and drive for an hour or more to another destination.

Crappie Cat, does your lonestar look like the one pictured in the trading post section, under "Antique Boat for Sale"?

Crappie Cat I found it while searching for info on Lone Star boats. The web site had lots of info about the company and a few ads from over the years. I did not know that they where bought out by Chrysler and that is where they went to. Anyway my boat is the same boat in the picture and I bought it from the second owner who was a fireman for the town of Flower Mound in about 1994. So it had never even left the metro mess. Now it sounds like either some people are not holding their mouths right or not being to honest about the fishing right now. I think since the wife is out of town this week I will have to go prove the fish are there again. I feel another limit outer coming on.

I'd have to agree with you Jacky. I'll be trying again Wednesday morning, rain or shine!

I just got a little 8-foot X 4-foot pond prowler from bp last week. I noticed there was a dorba gate on the NE side of the 377 bridge. Is this gate open for fisherman to drive to the bank and park during dry periods? Is this the best place to park to drop in with a boat like this (have a dolly for it)? Any help would be appreciated.
Cane Pole, Sunday we trolled from Marshall Creek park past the 377 bridge and back to MC and caught one 14-incher all day...
