if your throwing a scum frog im assuming your in thick cover such as pads o i would say 50 or 65 lb braid i like power pro i also throw a 17lb mono leader as for other top waters like a buzzbait or spook just throw it with mono bigger test line for bigger baits never use fluoro it dosnt float

I use braid probably 95% of the time unless i'm walking a bait in clear water, in which case I will add about 3 feet of big game 20lb mono in clear

I have always used 65# power pro and never had a single problem with it. When the color starts to wear off the line, flip the line on your spool so you can get fresh line without buying a new spool.

power pro if you use anything less than 65 check it if you back lash it cuts into itself i havnt had a problem with the 65 tho

buy spectra ( "magibraid"- bass-pro salt water catolog)..
dont break, dont have to flip it ...
tried power-pro ..broke off too much when used a couple of months...
