Had a mishap today at the gas station, Stopped to fuel the boat. Put the nozzel in and set it on the low/slow setting. As usuall when i fill up i also do a walk around the boat, checking Straps,tires,lights,etc,etc........ I was at front of boat, when my bilge pump kicked on, at first didnt think much of it because of the rain lately, but then the odor hit hit me it was FUEL not water. Well come to find out, the filler neck to the tank had came off and i just pumped about 20 gallons of fuel into my boat instead of tank!!!!. Went to carwash and ran the hot soap water down through it for a while and then plain water. Reconnected hose, but now ive tried several things and cant get Rid of the fuel smell.
Any Suggestions?

I would try some Laundry detergent with the fresh scent and leave it inside the hull for a few days .Thats a tough one!

If you have a steam cleaner it helps. Vinegar gets rid of gas smell as well as baking soda.
I'd try a two step and mix 1/2 vinegar and water and spray it into the hull and let it soak for awhile then rinse it out. Then I'd either mix some baking soda with water and spray it inside or probably a better idea would be to get the hull wet then liberally spread some baking soda.

I would just rinse out with water, then air out. Vinegar is acid and baking soda is a base. They might cause corosion on metal (bilge pumps, metal brackets, screws, etc).
If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

Eventually the gas will evaporate. The steam cleaner idea sounds best. Ouch on the wallet, I hate paying for gas when it goes in the tank!!

Put the plug in get a bar of LAVA Soap put it at the bottom of the boat in the bilge area fill half way with water. Ride around for alittle bit pull plug let dry leave the soap in there it will also clean the bilge area everytime replace as needed.
