My parents used to live in Chambers Point (1st subdivision north of 287 bridge). We used to troll along Pelican Island with a fat free shad catching whites and hybrids.
One summer, there was a large grasshopper hatch and they were blowing into the lake. The white bass were tearing them up one morning. Every white we cleaned was full of big grasshoppers.
It was pretty weird. I sure miss RC. Parents sold the hose 2 years ago and I haven't been back since.
I think it is the most prolific white bass lake I have ever seen. There was never a time we could get into the white bass, big ones too.

Hey all you lion fans. How's the white bass fishing on Bardwell? My brother coaches at EHS so i come up and visit a lot and heard that a lot of whites get caught at bardwell. Been thinkin I need to drag the ole boat with me when i come up for a visit. Are there any hybrids in the lake (Bardwell). Fished at RC some last summer, looking forward to spending some more fishing time there this year

I thought bardwell, was the only lake around until they built R/C. They seemed to always run a little small. Bardwell has a lake record striper over 20lbs. Cought trolling in front of thr DAM.I guess twenty years ago, they stocked it,just to try it out on striper. They hit it with Hybrds a few times, but not lately. They put the florida blackbass in lake waxachie several years ago.Acourse they ended up in Bardwell as well. Bardwell use to have some real nice parks, but the lake, is really just a mud hole. Lot of my customers fish it for the whites. Seems to always be some schooling fish around the dam. Bob
