I wouldn't go smaller than a 8k reel shimano series. I have seem the way some of these tuna take line and one run could empty out a 5k spool quickly

I don't really know what to type here.

You were going to bring a striper setup to catch YFT?? Get a cheap 7ft Tiger Lite Ugly stick for now then. You can double duty your jigging reel for casting if you don't want to shell out the dough for another casting reel.

Yeah but they have been getting a lot worse the last few years...something is up with that lake...sucks.
