Went out to Fayette County Lake this past Saturday morning. We got on the lake a little before sunrise, cool morning and water temp was 68 degrees. Fishing in 20 ft of water with Carolina rigged worms. I made my first cast and pulled up a 7.10. My wife's 2nd cast pulled up a 7.12. 30 minutes later, I pulled a 9+ pounder in the boat and then a few minutes later I pulled up a 6+. Fish were schooling all around us. We tried to chase the schoolies up shallow but to no avail. My wife ended up with another 1.5 pounder and after fishing Fayette for 30+ years, this was the best day of fishing on Fayette as far as weight goes I have ever had. The fish in Fayette seem to get bigger every year. I wish I knew how to post the pictures. God Bless and tight lines to all.

Awesome. I've only been to Fayette one time which was last month and the water was hot. I was looking for topwater action in the morning but didn't get any bites. The rest of the day was a struggle, as I tried to fish from 6-20' of water. Totally skunked. I want to go again and try my luck soon. Your post definitely gives me some hope. I can't believe the water was actually 68 degrees in the morning. My brother in law in Bastrop has said the weather has been cooling a little in the evenings/nights lately. Great job.

I can't believe the water was actually 68 degrees in the morning. I can't either. I was there Sunday myself. I think the op typed the numbers upside down and meant to type 98.

Thanks de-legaspi. The water temp. was 68 that morning where we were fishing and climbed to 89 when we left at noon. We were fishing around the large point in between both boat ramps. On AUG 1st my wife caught a 10.7 in the same area. We also were their 3 weeks ago and camped out in our R.V. We fished the tree`s on the left side of the dam and caught in a three day period 45 fish for an average of 15 per day. I will share to everyone the bait we were using because I want everyone to have a good time and catch fish. The bait is a Darting Shad and can be found at Academy on the lower shelf. We bought 10 pack`s. After catching 45 that weekend. We fish out of a Pro Craft that is red and white and our license plate on the truck reads N2BAS.
Hope to see yall their and if you see us, give a shout.
God Bless,
N2BAS

Yeah, I would get that lowrance looked at. I work here at the plant and I can promise you that the water isn't 68. Water coming out of the discharge just west of the point you were fishing is 109 degrees right now (I'm looking at it on my control board) and with a southeasterly wind its blowing right into that point. Glad you had a good trip regardless.
