when a $50 pole gets broke 2 to 5 inches from the end, can you put a new eye on it and still have a decent pole ? bass fishing. thanks for your help. greg

just fixed a couple with ends got from academy for $2.45 a piece. take the broke section with you to get the correct size

if academy still sells the same pole, they will exchange it for a new one no questions asked.

To answer your question: Yes, you can put a new tip guide on and still have a useable pole. It will be a lot stiffer and less sensitive. The poles I've repaired in this manner have been relegated to catfish poles in my arsenal.

Ditto on Academy. At first I felt bad about taking them back, but they actually encouraged me to do it...even if it was my fault !
( this is why I buy 90% of my rods there now..so their strategy works)

If not bought at academy, like Jig said....catfish rod.
