Hey Zac. Yes I catch a lot of Rios. It seems this summer has been very good and I have caught some very nice ones in the 8 to 10 inch range. I have seen some scattered reports from other anglers who have caught some Rios throughout the summer. It also seems that they are spawing just like the gills. I have caught most of my Rios on rock beds in 4 to 6 feet of water.

Thanks guys, I snorkel more than I fish and see these guys alot and some big ones too! I know they're aggressive and can put up a good fight, I just thought it was strange more people didn't target them for their size and look. Theyre kind of like our own little peacock bass in a way. Ive been reading up on them a little turns out they take one mate in their life, one more reason to catch and release.
