I think we had a successful trip apart from the wind and boat wakes. I know everyone got a bazillion super skinny 14-15inch stripers like these And I even hung into a few nice spotted bass And even a feisty little greenie BUT not one of these fish took away from the main event: SMALLMOUTH! I got my first 2 smallies on the fly today! the 2nd one was a little smaller and I think I got the biggest striper right when I left at 10:50 carpy pic- I was trying to get her back in the water. The Bass Hunter's measuring board is 18" long an this fish was hanging over it at least 10 or 11 inches! 7lbs on the boga. SUPER SKINNY! Today was a good day for me. The lake, even with the lack of shad, is still producing like crazy! Get out there and catch some! the stripers were all over the surface today starting at around 7 or 8 and continuing on some time after I left. FISH COUNT (for me anyway- I have no clue how everyone else did) Stripers-20 Smallmouth Bass-2 Spotted Bass-2 Green Sunfish-1 LETS SEE SOME MORE PICS FROM THE TRIP!

PB, you got the fly fishing gusto. Always good fish and pics. Keep it up dude, and get it all in while you're young (or maybe it's just before you get married ).

Next time we need to go farther than that last cove where the three of us (Steve, Bryan, And I) stayed in for like 30 minutes. I motored down to the next cove farther down for about 20 minutes and the water up in the creek channel was glass smooth and I saw several smallies and 1 big drum. I caught a few stripers and would have stayed in there longer but I had to leave. I drained 1 battery (the TM and fishfinder shut off 10 feet off of the FINA sign coming into the marina) and used 1/4 of the other. I was marking water temps way below the other end of the lake's temps. over there it is 88-90 and over at the dam I was marking 82 by the ramp and 86 was the highest it got. It was nice meeting/fishing with you guys today! Just like the pickerel trip but with fish, dry weather, and sun! The wind really picked up from 9-9:30 then settled back down and I got slammed against a few rocks and the transducer for the fishfinder got banged up a little bit but other than that a great day!

Nice pics Austin ! And I am grateful we neglected to wager.
Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

It looks like y'all had quite a day. Skinny stripers look like a lot of fun. Would you mind moving that lake closer to my house, please? Having it so near Okieland is pretty inconvenient for me.

Nice fish everyone.
I just don't get the whole fish count s**t. Who cares if you catch 1 or 100? If you are going for numbers, you should switch to conventional gear, imo.

I guess I don't understand why someone would be concerned if a couple of teenagers count their fish. I counted my fish when I was their age and I suspect most of us on this board did too. I don't see why today's teenagers would be any different than we were. Looks like it was a fun trip. Rex

I had a lot of fun even though I had to kick my way back a little earlier than some of the crew. Caught a few small smallmouth, including 1 fish that absolutely believed he was at least 3 pounds (for the record, he was probably all of a half pound), a couple of meaty bluegills, and maybe 7 or 8 stripers, one of which went about 18 inches and maybe, maybe, maybe weighed a full three-quarters of a pound. If these fish were any skinnier you could probably see right through them. It's always a great day out there and it was pretty cool to see the TFF Freshwater Fly Flotilla out in full force. That whole cliff section of Eisenhower park is just great fun on the fly. Some pics: Around the point by sunrise: If this fish ever grows up, it's going to be a brawler: Somebody feed this girl a sandwich!

Hey, Austin ought to put a little 2 HP gas motor on that buggy and offer a tube tow service. Slow but beats the you-know-what out of kicking all the way there and back!

Call me crazy but I enjoyed the gentle exercise of kicking my way back against a 12kt wind and 1-2 ft "seas." There were one or two folks who look like they might've appreciated a tow.
