'78 115hp evinrude, It is now hanging by chainhoist from big oak . I can't get the steering cable out. Backed off small cable nut and loosened large nut. Turned steering wheel and cable slid out about 6" but won't come out anyfurther. I see I could take the big nut all the way off and slide the big heng pin out holding the motor to the tilt bracket which I don't want to do.
I thought maybe the endpiece that I unbolted from the steering linkage needed to be screwed off to remove the cable but it won't unscrew.
The squirrels and birds want their oak tree back.

??WHAT DO I DO TO GET THIS CABLE OUT????

If the nut that holds the housing is completely loose then you will need to lube it with wd-40 and wiggle and pull . There is probably a wad of old dried grease keeping the end from coming out.

Went to iboat website and found the stearing rod has to be driven out w/block of wood to protect rod-end, fortunaltely I have not neglected the greese zerts and have already driven it flush to the motor pin and will have to finish driving steering cable out w/ a punch.
