Judging by the width of your spread four fingers up by the gills to be about 6 inches, I'd say the fish was 18 to 20 inches which would make it about 3 to 4 pounds. Catfish of the same size as bass don't fight harder, they fight differently though.

Is this a Flathead? Are they worth eating like Channel cats? I catch these all day long.

The Tail was round for sure, it was the first thing I noticed besides it being a Catfish and ugly as heck. I'm catching them in a creek near my house on worms, while Panfishing. It's called Fossil Creek. It's like there is one particular area that I seem to catch only Catfish from, every where else on this creek produces Bass and or Sunfish and occasionally a Catfish or two. I thought I posted 2 pics of the same fish...so ya'll could get a good look at it. (added 2nd pic)

Looks like a channel cat to me... good eatin size too!! Are you talking about the first image? I think the last fish looks dramatically different than the first fish, which is is why I posted it. I think it ( the last image) had 20 or 21 dorsal spines and a round tail.
