I would say thats a 100% no. At least the crappie fishig is still excellent and we still seem to accidentally catch a lot of whites and stripers on each trip.

Who ever wrote that report is an idiot or just does not know how to fish. Bass fishing is as good as ever, striper fishing is down do the "cold winter threadfin shad kill" but the numbers of stripers you can catch is still awesome. No problem getting bit and you can not keep the blue cat and channels of your hook when live bait fishing for stripers.

just read a report that the Zebra m. had ruined the fishing on Texoma, is this true? Hope you understand that no one is dogging you. Where can the report be found? This kind of misinformation can be bad for guides, marinas, local business and so on....

New rumor: ZM's are all dead - the catfish ate them.

I agree with Lakeguide(Matt's Modeling and Guide Service)...reports like this are nonsense and can have bad effects on the all around commerce on Texoma.
I have personally fished Texoma A LOT this summer and the fishing has been great in volume and once the shad population increases, the fish will hopefully fatten back up!

It's just a big lake and the fish move around a lot. If the reporter tributes his lack of ability to find the fish on ZMs, so be it. As was reported, I agree he's an IDIOT. Even the shad are coming back...with a decent winter, the lake will be boiling fish next year...

Appears to be an effort by somebody to do damage to possibly the most notorious lake in the us by giving it bad publicity. 9This comment not targetd at the origional poster but the source where it came from)

There are some really strange rumours out there...I had a guy on the boat last week who swore he "knew a guide who said that Texoma was going to be "killed" (poisoned) to get rid of all the Zebra Mussels"
Really out there, conspiracy theory stuff!

I am sure anything potent enough to rid the entire lake of zebra mussels would be completely harmless to the rest of the aquatic life in the lake, especially at much higher concentrations before gets completely diluted.

a post on Austin Bass fishing forum, this guy had been to texoma and supposedly "saw hundreds of dead stripers" and the lake is dead because they couldn't catch any fish, I called it a BS report and got raked over the coals for my comments. I promise you I was not trying to start any rumors

http://www.striperguidefishing.com/?page_id=326They appear to be somewhat of a problem? The report on ABF showed the fish to be very skinny. The guy commented that he had seen hundreds of dead fish, which someone else noted seeing many dead fish here: http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/5231319/Re_Did_texoma_turnoverI don't think it is fair to call people "Idiots" for reporting that the fish are skinny and there are dead fish. Based on the report on the top (from wildlife biologists one might add), I would say the ZMs are having some effect on the population of Shad, which in turn would affect the striper. No one is saying that Texoma is the dead sea guys, just saying it appears to be having some issues. On another note, I would consider this "idiot" to be a friend and I know he isn't just trying to make things up. He was basing his report on what he had seen and information he was given by the locals that he was fishing with. If he is an idiot, then I seriously need to get an education

Anyone who says Zebra mussells have "Ruined" the fishing on texoma is an IDIOT and ignorant for making assumptions and spreading rumors.. If ya dont like that ..too bad..I call-em the way I see-em.. Zebra mussels in the lake have not effected the fishing... Skinny fish are not due to zebra mussles..Its due to the shad kill last winter. Hundreds of dead floaters is due to people who think they can release any striper in 90 degree water. I dont care who's friend he is.. to go on a public forum and say things that he hs no educated idea about what he is talking about makes him an idiot. Even the Biologists dont really know what effect the Zm are having... They are still speculating so how can anyone eles really know?
