Does this year seem to be the year of the skipjacks to you guys? This is the worst year ever for me. I'm really blowing through hooks, and leaders. How about you guys?

I had several hit while fishing the LLM. Messed up a few kahle hooks.

Not just small ones, but big ones over 30 inches. Great fight, but better cut bait & crab bait.

I got into them thick last fall at SPI. They were tearing up my clousers with ease. It is surprising how destructive they can be for their size. Gonna be back down there a little better prepared this time....

For me it's been the exact opposite, I can count how many skipjack I have caught this year with my hands. Last year there was days I would catch 20-30 while fishing the jetties sometimes more.

Although this year they have been fairly large, I even broke a 6wt on one.

I have been doing a lot of Tarpon fishing in Port A, and I have been catching WAY more than I would like to catch. If you think they are bad during the day, try fishing at night. They are 100 times more likely to hit at night than during the day.
They do fight really good, but dang they do tear up tackle!
