I have a 07 250 hpdi with 180 hours on it. I just got this motor and i have noticed that when i turn it off for a second it wont want to start up again, I have to trim it up and keep bumping it over, It will start up again and smoke like it was loaded up. it only does it every once in a while. I have only had this motor about a month and it is still under warrenty. I run stabil blue and i have not ran the ring free yet, but i do run yamaha oil until i get my hands on some BG oil. I tried to take off the plastic clear fuel filter that is on the side of the motor but it is on really tight and acts like it will break if i take it off.

i WOULD PULL THE SPARK PLUGS OUT AND LOOK AT THEM TO SEE IF THEY ARE CARBONED UP OR IF THEY ARE WASHED DOWN WITH FUEL. YOU MAY HAVE JUST ONE SPARK PLUG BAD. i HAVE AN '09 250 HPDI.

First thing I would do is get rid of the yamalube oil, it smokes way to much and causes way to much carbon build up even using ring free although it does help.I have had excellent results with pennzoil and some people like amsoil but I have never used it .

You want to check the rod that connects the oil pump to the throttle linkage to see if it still connected. Had one that the plastic connector cracked through the threads letting the rod fall out. This causes the oil to go maximum flow.

Does it run ok on top end? If not then you may have a pin hole in your manual fuel pump leaking excess fuel into the cylinder.

I am only running the yamalube until i get my shipment of BG oil. It will only do it every once in a while. If i shut it off 10 times during the day it will on have problems starting on 3
