If you had to choose only 2 artificial baits to use for crappie year round which would you choose, what color, and weight? Please list a hand tied jig and a soft body jig.
I would choose a Chartreuse and White Rocky Top with an 1/8th oz Chartreuse jighead for the soft body.
For the hand tied jig I would choose a Halo Magic from Jigum.
Now I am a "Tackle Ho" and have every color under the sun but I have noticed these are what I use most. My choice may change as soon as I try the LFT Baby Shads but they will have to go some to beat out the Rocky Tops.

I use a home made hand tied nearly all the time. This is my personal favorite, but there are several variations of it. This is a 1/16 oz. I use a 1/32 when the wind lets me get away with it. As for plastics, hardly ever use them, but a thick body like crappie thunder is my favorite because you can shoot them a mile under a dock and they skip very easily.

I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.

I would use this one: Or a white and yellow chart from rockytop. If forced to only choose one weight I would go with a 1/8 oz on both.

If I could only pick two year round, they would both have to be plastics...Green/White Rocky Tops amd Char/Pearl LFT...I do have some hand tied jigs in my bag but only use them off slips and bridges...
I use 1/8 oz collarless jigs w/ sickle hooks most of the time...1/4 and 1/16 every now and then...

1/8 white/chart Bobby garland slab slayer.
1/8 watermelon/olive/black hand tied jig I tie.
But like you said Bobby, I'm gotta try the LFT lures and see how they work for me. I really like the size of them. I was wanting something like the bobby garland's baby shad in a bigger size, then out comes LFT baby shads . Can't wait to try em' out this weekend.

For a hand tied I've done real well with this one from SlabMeSilly (BTW WHERE IS CV?) Right now the chart/Pearl LFT Baby Shad is doing great but over time past I'd have to say the Panfish Assassin in Texas Avacado (blk/grn-chart) has caught more fish. I think the LFT Sour Grape may pass it up though (I like blk/chart).

I would choose a chartreuse skirted jig and an unpainted 16th ounce jig head Not sure on the hand tied jig as i havn't had to use many of them in the past but it would prob be white as that would give me a 2 color selection. Of course both would be tipped with a crappie nib!!!!

Interesting question. First I would have a 1/32 Oz. Roadrunner and it probably would be Chart/Blue/Chart with silver willow blade. Then I would need a 1/8 Oz. and could be that same color or it would be With and Blue two tone rabbit. I can catch fish spring and fall in water deep as 15'-20' at times long line trolling.
This way I can cover all of spring with the RR and Summer with the 1/8. Also the 1/8 will do well with trolling right next to the boat in the 11'-15' depth and then the brush piles too.
The only problem with this is water clarity comes in big time much of the time. When the water clears here about mid spring I go to a Silver/Blue/White, but last spring I had some of my new Silver Chenille (like in my Sig)and tied on it a blue marabou tail and just killed them better than any of my other clear water colors. If stained I have to go to others, but then the chart/blue/chart will dominate. I have not tried the Silver in stained water, but sure look forward to it next spring.
