Need help. Have christmas trees sunk at my boat dock. Problem this afternoon was that there full of water snakes. Do snakes breed this late in the year. The lake is Tawakoni.

This is my grandkids weekend swiming hole. Looks like the trees will get pulled out to the woods.

sink the trees deeper. snakes won't go very deep.

The water is now just 5 foot. My bride says the trees will leave. Guess what i will be doing saturday.

Depends on the species. Some snakes will mate in the fall and the sperm is kept within a capsule inside the cloaca until the spring when the gestation period may begin. Some snakes may actually mate twice in a season depending on the availabilty of resources. If they were mating, you would probably have one large female with a few smaller males around her. They were likely just "hanging out" and it had nothing to do with mating behavior.

I just looked back at the original post. The were in the dock, which would likely mean they were seeking shade and the trees served as some cover for protection. Walk up to the trees and they will slide off into the water. Go make some brushpiles!
