I have mostly had diesels in the past, but I am thinking about going to a Nissan Titan, for those if you that pull a bass boat with this truck how do you like it? What kind of gas mileage do you get pulling? Thanks for the help.

Have a friend with one and it pulls his 21' Triton fine. It has never seen a gas pump it didn't love, even when not towing.

My partner at TTU has a fairly new Titan. It is an Excellent tow vehicle.
If I remember correctly, he got 14-15 mpg towing my 16 foot Skeeter all over west Texas, and 13 ish towing a 19 foot BassCat. From what I hear, he gets better than average milage.
I don't know much about the Titan's transmission options (gear ratios and whatnot), but apparently he has the one better suited for towing. Very stable; even the full sized boat didnt strain the truck at all.
It doesnt have the most comfortable seats, but that's pretty much my only knock on it. 5.6 V8 makes up for a lot...
When I get in the truck buying mood, I'll be looking hard at Titans

I know people who have or have had Titans. Biggest complaints were the rear differentials being too small. I think they used the same small differentials in the Frontier and the Titan, which was too small for a 1/2 ton truck. Some have a 2:96 and some have a 3:36, or something like that. Anyway, if you tow with them the rear end likes to blow out pretty quick and Nissan will not cover it if you are out of warranty. Look it up online, there are lots of cases where people had to spend $3500-$4000 out of pocket for a new rear end at 45K miles. Just do a search for "nissan titan rear differential" and the diff complaints should be one of the early hits. If you buy one, you are better off dropping in an aftermarket differential and selling the original. I don't own one so look for a Titan forum and ask their opinions or see what problems they are having.
That and the lack of a redesign is the problems I see in them. Fronts seats are huge captains chairs and felt pretty nice to me. As long as your boat isn't too big, then you might be alright.

Bradbeen, I just traded my 2005 Titan with close to 100.000 miles on it for a 2010 Titan last week. I pulled stock trailer's, 20 cajun boat that is pretty heavy, flat bed trailer haulin old car's for my buddy. Heck I even pulled some dodge's with hemi from red light's. Never had any problem with drivetrain. They have a 5 speed trans. Just turn on the tow mode and turn off the overdrive. At 70 m.p.h. with O.D. off pullin my cajun it's just turning a little over 2000 r.p.m. About 14mpg pullin stuff. If i get out on open highway and set the cruise i alway's got 19-20. Don't know where you live, I live north of greenville. If your interested in trying out my titan just give me a holler.

I think of you are used to pulling with a diesel, you will be disappointed with any gas engine. My friend pulled my boat with a 3/4 gas truck and it was day and night difference.

Gotta go with ironmike +1000
I drive a Tacoma everyday, a Dodge 5.9 for everything that requires a trailer.. (The exception would be my duck boat or my 4wheeler trailer) My nephew bought a hemi truck when he got rid of his old 5.9 truck.....3 months later, the hemi truck was his wife's and he was sporting a new 6.7.. Once you get used to the diesel, everything else just sucks. With all that said, the Titan is the only one that really makes me think about buying a new truck... 40k and crappy mileage make it a lot easier to pass on though.

I bought my Titan new in 2006. It now has 87,000 "towing" miles on it. Only thing I have done is tires and oil changes. This truck is a beast, unreal. It's towing ability is amazing. The gas mileage is not good, but if you want good gas mileage buy a Kia. I have had a Toyota, Chevy and Ford. All were great trucks, but cannot be compared to this Titan.

^ disagree(about needing kia for mileage lol). a diesel with a chip in it or anything upgraded will yield WAY better mileage than any gas motor ever.
also might look into the 2011 F150, supposed to get like 25mpg empty. im partial to ford though, unless getting a diesel. cant stop the cummins!
plus th actual truck (ford) is gunna have alot better strength and build quality (not sure about their new motors. but if it comes with the new 5.0 you are golden.
cars is just my thing lol.

I have a Nissan Armada and it pulls my skeeter zx200 like it's not even there. It does pull the gas mileage down.

Any gas burner pickup you get that has a V-8 will pull your boat just fine, fuel economy will be an issue with any one of them, as well with new diesels. I have a 5.9 cummins and pull a 20'er and get 18mpg. The new diesel engines do not get this kind of mileage but it's a trade off for new nicer stuff. My buddy towed my boat yesterday with his new 1/2 ton Ford small V-8 and it did really good, plus it is a nice truck. I think my next pick up will be a gas burner because of the cost of fuel and all the emission changes on the new diesels. It just doesn't add up for my type of use.
