I realize these guys have to make a profit on their products but dang do they have to make it all at one time. This is the Tyler store. I don't know what the prices are like elsewhere. Sure wish we had an Academy in Tyler!!!!
Gander Mtn. ----------- Hellbender - $6.99 Pet Spoon, #12 - $3.67
Academy ---------- Hellbender - $4.95 Pet Spoon, #13 - $2.90
Knockoff Hellbender - $3.96 Knockoff Pet Spoon, #13 - $1.77

at least they have them- the academy in college station has no pet spoons at all
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Gander mountain S@#*s. They are way over priced and have very little to choose from. I live about 60 miles from a BPS and Cabela's. Cabela's is across the hwy from my work. The one time I was in Gander mountian Will be the last. Its nice they have soft plastics that you can pick and choose how many you want, but bring the vaseline. I think I like Cabela's better than BPS. Just my 2 cents

Bass Pro has a display set up just for the "Hell Pet". I dont remember exactly what I paid but I dont think it was as much as Gander Mtn. I need to talk to someone about the Hell Pet anyway. Need Info.

Macks Discount Tackle in Lindale has Hellbenders for 4.95 ea. Pet spoons are priced around $3.50, just like at Walmart in Mineola. I have been planning to go to Gander Mountain in Tyler but now, maybe not.
Regards, Bart

Grove Rat, do a search on this site for "Hell-pet". You will get all the info you need.

I still have to go to wal mart for stuff I was sure I could get at Gander mt.. They didn't even have a trolling motor on off button. I guess if your a hunter Gander Mt. is a good place but I was dissapointed in their fishing selection. No downrigger stuff at all.

Thanks BobC, found what I was looking for. Bass Pro does not have the "Pet Spoon" with a feather on it on their display. Does the feather really make much of a difference?

Grove, the feather is not important. Even if it has feathers they will not last. I've never noticed they difference. But this time of year(summer) you cannot beat the Hell/pet rig for sand bass. I would not go to the lake without it.

Don't know anything about Gander Moutain but it may be worth the effort to ask someone who works there if they price match?

I didn't see any so I asked??

cajun, they told you a small fib.......If you are looking at the pet spoon area (also where the kastmasters, other spoons)......walk to the right and cross the walk way. On the left side of the column, you will see the hell pet section. It has the benders/weights/pet spoons/swivels grouped together. I have had some great luck with these and although I don't consider myself a "troller" I do like to use it for a locator. There was a guy there the other day that knew his stuff well.......I had 12 minutes to shop when I hit the door and a list of about 10 things. We (he) found the items in 5 and I was out the door in 14 minutes.
Good luck.....sorry for the novel.

Thats right cajun, they are on the back side of a column facing the reel counter. The guy told me that they actually got the info from TFF on how to rig it.
