Fished with Hossman and Todd Davidson today. Left out at 8ish armed with nothing but sassy shad and Bucktail jigs. We tried working the points and drops all day looking for big fish. Started off fast with our first fish comming on a point just outside my boathouse.. Im thinking cool this is gonna be a good day !! But it wasnt to be..We headed North and worked the points ive been working all week. On our first drift we boated one 26 incher and lost 2 more at the boat.. So its still looking like its gonna be a great day... We worked our booties off all day for a few more fish. We did managed some good fish ,just not the numbers I would hope for. Twice we sat on a blacked out screens only to pull just 1 fish out and had the rest of them lockjawed things laughing at our lures smile We never found any working birds today.. in fact I havent seen any in a week. Although the lure bite was slow for us today the company as always was great !! Thanks guys smile
The air temp when we started was 30 degrees and warmed up to 47 by 3pm... water temps were 47-48 degrees.

Well, I don't feel so bad if the guide even had a tough day by his standards (although his day was pretty good by my standards). I went with my bro' today, his first time ever on the lake and my first time in a month. Launched at Loe's and fished from 1 to 5 pm. We did a lot of motoring around looking for some legitimately working birds, but didn't see any all afternoon from west of the bridge to Preston Peninsula. I got 2 bites (on sassy shad), and he caught one fish - a 2 lb smallmouth on a chartreuse sassy shad in 8' of water. Seemed like it should have been a good day with pretty good overcast, a decent amount of wind, etc.

We had a really good day on bait and slabs but I think we were lucky. We found 2 big schools of fish in open water with birds working on them but the birds did not stay around, other than that it looked like the dead sea.

Yea my guys were more interested in catching. I have done a few lure trips this winter but it sure aint like last winter so far for me , usually by this time I quit bait fishing because I can catch more on lures. I have not been out there as much this winter since the river has been keeping me busy.Maybe all the rain we had last winter made the fishing better.

Lets all get along boys. laugh laugh
It a good guide JD thats admits his slow days. They happen to everyone now and then.

I can understand the catchin thing but.... I also would rather catch them on the jigs.March thru OctoberI want bait but November thru Febuary its more fun to catch them on jigs, sassys etc.Steve we do need rain thats for sure.

JD I meant that all in fun, sorry if I offended anybody. Yes being at the lake would have been much better than watching that a** whipping yesterday! Merry Christmas Whites Hybrids Stipers!!!

I spent the afternoon, well all weekend, much of last week, and last night, watching Mark and Jeff get my two boys and Pam on fish....then I would replay..add more video, pictures, and do it over again.

Of course it was my favorite way of fishing with Live Bait and while mommy and daddy ('Me') were in another boat smile trying to shoot some video outside looking in (my wife was fishing). My youngest son (6 yrs) said "it was the most fun I ever had".

Executive producer, Chris Dennis (Gear Head) did a great job of shooting the video inside the boat, and generating a DVD that we displayed this weekend. Everyone appears to really like the program, I loved it, but then I'm bias, my two boys are on the video smile and they had a great, great, time catching fish. Watching them catch fish is great, getting the entire experience on video (the Grandparents and family are going to love watching this while opening presents smile is spectacular.

You can check out the videos at the tackle show in Arlington.
