I am in the "tackle ho" - "gear head" groups too. I have way too many rods/reels both Bass and Crappie. However, my Bass gear far outweighs Crappie gear in $$. I am quite happy with my PA rods, catch plenty of Crappie with 'em.

In the last year I have reigned myself in a lot when I go to BPS or order online I curb my spending by about 1/8th what I used to spend.

I have 2 storage rooms in my house and they are full of tackle, my boat is full of tackle. I decided it was time to stop buying so much. Spend more time fishing and less time buying.

I guess I would be considered old school. I still throw beetle spins at crappie and use a cane pole during the spring. The fish never change, only the fisherman and his equipment. I will admit down/side scan is on my most have list.

Just because something new is mentioned doesn't mean everything else is done...When I get something good I keep using it...Try to not fall into the color trap...

I use St. Croix Rods, Shimano Reels, Rocky Tops in White/Green and Black/Green and recently added LFT Baby Shads in Greens...Every now and then I throw a Trophy Tim Jig...

I can fit these into a ziplock bag and I am good to go...

I may try a Dobyns rod if they ever design a crappie version...They seem lighter but you pay for it...
