What alarms do you use? What's your "dream" alarm/set? What will be your next purchase?
I use a set of Resistance Alarms at the moment and a cheapo set I've been testing for the missus that just happen to be the most annoying alarms in the world, but work and are loud enough to hear over the sound of blood pumping through my brain as I watch those fit young lassies go jogging round LBL.
I'd love to have a set of Delkim TXIs but can't justify paying half a mortgage for them just now.
Next set I get will be either the Prologic remote set, the new Optonic G2 remote set, or a set of ATT remotes. Waiting to see what Santa "Tax Rebate" Claus says I can afford in January.

So I guess the reason I posted this was to see if anyone else used some mid-range remote sets of alarms other than the Prologic, the ATTs, or the Optonics.
The Fox N range I'd like, and the Delk TXis, are way beyond my budget. The new Flajzar remotes look the bollix but are up there in price and the receiver looks like a Radio Shack home electronics project. For some reason I just don't trust the TF Gear brand. I read some bad reviews on their bivvies and was put off by what I read about their customer service.

I have DAM Wireless LCD's. I'm on my second set- I broke my first set when I fell on it.
This last year I considered getting a new set, but didn't see one with all the features I was looking for.
I'll list the features I like- Develop yourown list and look for a set that has them all.
Wireless Remote- For when I'm way away from my rods or night fishing/sleeping. Multiple Colored Lights- To identify the run from a distance. Jack for Fox Illuminated Swingers- I can't use them if I can't plug them in. Loud Alert- For when I'm wandering around. Alert that increases with the speed of Run- It's nice to know how fast your line is leaving the reel. Volume Control- So as not to piss off the neighbors. Tone Control- I set my Left, Center, and Right Alarms to Low, Medium, and High Tones. Sensitivity Control- For dealing with current/wind/weeds. Light that stays illuminated after the run-Sometimes you just don't get there in time.
Good Luck, and choose wisely.

I would love to have a set of the TXi's as well. I've got 2 EV Plus alarms (plus a Fox Warrior). I want to replace the Warrior with a Txi and get the transmitters for the two Ev's, and obviously a receiver as well. I just can't afford it yet.

im using BFS alarms right now. im pretty sure they are the cheapest alarms on the market (dollar value-wise)? they are very loud, but the tone is ear piercing! not a huge fan of that!
i have dropped them in the water more than once and i was able to dry them out and give the switches a little oil and they suprisingly still work fine. i didnt learn exactly how to fix them untill after i broke a few components one one though.
i havent looked much into new alarms simply because of the cost associated with some of the brands i want. one thing i do know is that by summer time next year i MUST have a set of remote alarms! ide like to be able to chill out in my truck behind a nice full blast AC in my face and not have to worry about not hearing an alarm. it'd also be nice for this winter while im shacked up in a tent trying to keep warm or sleeping through the night. unfortunatly it'll be something that has to wqait untill next year.
deffinantly let me know what you end up getting and how much you like it because it will be one of the next big purchases i make for my carp arsenal!

Seen some bad reports with the DAM alarms so I hadn't considered them. Keep going back and forth between the Prologic and the Optonic G2s at the moment. They both have what I want as far as night-lite, VTS, Wireless, latching LEDs, and silent settings. The Prologic seems the higher spec, but changing batteries seems fiddly. The Optonic has the illuminated indicator but the Prologic has a night-lite system that illuminates brighter and shines on your indicators when you get a bite etc. I have a soft spot for the Optonjics though cos they were my first ever roller wheel alarms back when they first came out, probably 30 years ago! Jaysus! I just realized my first alarms are older than my missus! Gulp!
Anyway, what's more, they're both very affordable at around $250 per set including remote... If I could afford the Delks or Fox R's I would.
I'll let you know what I eventually get. I'm not having any issues at all with my Resistance alarms and my cheapies ether, just want to upgrade for the winter so I can stay in my bivvie all nice and cozy and just watch the remote! LOL

Fox Warriors are the best quality low price units out there.
You can get better by spending more, and you can get worse by spending more, but you cannot get better by spending less.
That said, I may make a move to some cool Prologics soon.

I think the only thing that put me off the ATTx alarms is the lack of a sensitivity setting, but then I can't remember the last time I adjusted the sensitivity on my alarms to counter fishing/weather conditions.
The Fox Warriors are out because I want a set with remote but don't want to have to buy the remote system separately. If I wanted to do that, I could use the alarms I already have.

Tony - I know you have already said you can't afford the TXI's -- however -- if you really want Rolls Royces - not VW Rabbits, I'd get a piggy bank, and just keep throwing your pocket change in there until you can. I had 4 Delk EV+'s -- with an ATTX remote system, that was great -- other than the fact I had to carry 3 different batteries 1/ Alarms, 2/Dongles, 3/ Remote. Any low batteries made for a pain - as the range on the remote was reduced -- and, you didn't know it!! Quite a bit cheaper than the TXI set up though (the ATTX came from Specialist in UK) I got 3 (very low use) TXI+'s earlier this year, along with Duo Carb swingers, and Nitelites - in a sweet deal from a CAG guy. The whole set up is definitely the dogs dangly bits -- but, I had to get an RX unit ($200) and also opted for the D-Lock quick release mounts --which I have on all three mounts on my buzzbar - plus 3 banksticks. Sort of a neat touch -- and really completes the whole set up. Cost wise -- I too couldn't have afforded to just 'shell out' for all, but -- offset it by selling my EV's & ATTX, which basically paid for the TXI's. Performance wise -- Top Of The Line!! The duo carbs never flinch in high side winds, the Nitelites are powered by the alarms - so, no extra battery, and the magnetic ball line clips are a bloody great stroke of genius. I often fish with different BS lines on different rods, and was always fooling around with the tension on the line clips with Solar bobbins. The Delk ones are absolutely mucking fagic -- one fits all, and -- they work fantastic!! The RX is far superior to the ATTX - in that there is a switch for Local/Distance, and you can be a very long way from your rods and it still works fine. There's plenty out there to choose from, however - as a lot of other 'names' have progressively cheapened down on quality - Delkim are proudly touting the fact that there are NO compromises. I believe that -- and have the peace of mind knowing that their faulty items/return policy is really second to none. Tony -- it's Rollers or VW's -- and no sensible/accurate comparisons can be made as far as I can see. I hope you get something that suits your needs --- and that the missus doesn't keep pilfering coffee money from you Piggy Bank

It's a pretty picture, Brid, but I don't believe the only two cars on the road are VWs or Rolls Royces. I'm pretty sure there are a few Corvettes and Cadillacs on the road too, and that's what I'm aiming at. If I wanted Delks, I could buy them tomorrow. What I couldn't do is justify spending half a mortgage payment on alarms.
Prologics and ATTx's lead the way for me at the moment.
