RangerKev and I went out to find some sandbass. We got there about a half hour before light, and chatted with bridgeportguide until just before light. What a nice guy by the way. I know that he makes his living taking people fishing, but he told us alot about hybrid fishing. Anywhoo, we launched the boat and ran out to Rattlesnake Island, we didnt see anything. Then we went up to the Rock Piles and fished around for about an hour. Nothing was going on, then it was like all hell broke loose. My graph went crazy. About the time that I saw them on the graph, I told Kevin to drop his slab, and he immediately caught one, then another, then another. These schools were moving fast too, it was all I could do to keep up with them on the trolling motor. We ended up catching quite a few fish up there. Here is a map of where we were catching them. The white dots are where we caught them. I had a really good time fishing with RangerKev, and if you ever get a chance to fish with this guy, dont miss it. This guy is a very good fisherman, and a blast to hang around with. Thanks again Kevin, we will definately do it again.

We had alot of fun today. Didn't catch alot but a few. Around noon they were surfacing all over just north of the rock pile. We only got about ten to bite, though. We tried torpedos, humdingers, and shadraps. Most were caught on the bottom with the humdingers. It was good to see RangerKev and RangerNate today. I bet we talked more than we fished. Nathan even called me later from Cabellas and told me about a one day sale on trolling motors. I got a 74lb Minn Kota Riptide 3x 24 volt motor for 269.99. What a deal. Thanks Nathan, you saved me a ton of money.

Not yet. I'm trying to find a good deal on 8AWG wire. It's 1.31 a foot at academy. I might just buy a pair of jumper cables and cut the clamps off. That will save me $20. I'll keep ya posted. It's also hard to find wire connectors large enough.

Went out yesterday, two trucks at Wise Co. park.Nice cool morn, slid out to main part of lake[water was glass]and started looking for structer for crappie. Found some south of boy scout camp, droped jig, bam 1 1/2# channel cat.Seen a few sandies start to boil,so droped of a 1 1/2 oz white slab, BAM the fight was on. Was by myself, and thought this was the grand daddy hybrid ive been waiting on,a good ten min later, i finally got to see it.Rod in one hand, net in the other, landed a 12 to 15 # app cat.Man that was fun,ive got pic on phone, and as soon as comp will reconize phone again ill post pic.Kept slabin for abit, caught 4 slot bass, bout 20 sandies.Put them rods up and went for the crappie, caught 26-12 of those were keepers. So it was gettin bout lunch time, and im headin back to truck, and when i get in front of boy scout camp, sandies everywhere!!There was a good 10 acre patch that was boiling.they hit torpedo, slab, humdinger, and i didnt have time to tie on something new.I caught sandies till i was plain wore out. That lake is on fire!!By the way,I didnt keep any of these fish, just the big cat long nough for a pic. It wouldve took two days to clean all them fish.

I fish Lake Bridgeport all the time. The sand bass were very slow to start this year I think, compared to other years past. Also the size this year is down compared to last. In any case they are atill fun to catch and even better to fry. During the past couple weeks I have also noticed the channel cat, am started to catch bigger fish in shallower water no, maybe its the time of year. We'll keep you updated.

Bilski,
I would have to disagree with you on the sandbass fishing at Bridgeport. Yes there are small schools but there are numerous huge sandbass. Was out on Saturday and caught numerous huge sandbass with a few near 2lbs. The trick is to fish below the surfacing fish. Many folks are catching the small fish on the surface. The hybrids are usually down under the surfacing fish as well. My problem on Bridgeport is trying to keep the sandbass away as they keep getting in the way of catching hybrids. The lake is loaded with sandbass.
Two weeks ago the fish were south, this last weekend they were north. They are moving machines.
My two cents.

Oh Yeah, This has been a banner year for BIG Sandies! They are even whacking the big Threadfins I use without a thought! Mike is right they are moving! It was nice to get rid of the boat traffic, Monday AM the fish came up but were buried by a mess of boats. I had a trip Moday PM, after the lake calmed down the Hybrids were interested (5 to 5 pounds). Lots of Sandies up top, with the bigger ones under. RangerNate and RangerKev, good to meet you also, you know my boat so come up and say hey! Keith www.lakebridgeportguideservice.com
