I have fished on several occasions with the customer I had on this past Saturday. His son paid me an estremely big compliment by answeringthe question "What do you want for your birthday?", by replying "To go fishing with Omar!"
We started out from Holiday Marina with high hopes and plenty of shad on board to try for Cats later in the day.
The fish have been mostly up towards the 2-mile bridge and when you find them are fairly easy to catch, provided you can figure out what they want. I started off using slabs and vertically fishing the schools on my graph - no dice.
Billy, I guess this hardheaded Irishman finally has figured out the Hell/Pet. I concetrated in 11 to 16 feet of water and we just slew the big Sandies. We caught a limit of fish between 13 and 19 inches! We threw back lots of keeper fish as well. This was all done by about 10am and then we went on for Cats - but they seemed to have lockjaw.
I baited out 2 different spots that have produced well in the past with no results - we even fished each spot for a good 2 hours each. Just one of those days when you leave the lake scratching your head.
I hope everyone gets a chance to get out this fall and get into the feeding frenzies on the area lakes. Good luck and stay safe.
