I just moved to College Station and I want to do a little fishing. I don't have access to a boat so I will be bank fishing. Does anyone know of any fishing spots that are worth my time? Let me know.

There are a few local ponds that are stocked regularly, but I've personally never had much luck with them. That said, they are convenient for practice.
City Ponds: 1) Police station: Texas Ave, almost to 2818, right next to the police department. 2) Central Park: Krenek Tap Road (block or two west of the police station), towards Hwy 6 is Central park and two ponds. 3) Brother's Park: Rio Grande Blvd and Ponderosa Dr, there is a pond (a bit larger than the police station pond) back in Brother's park, a bit of a walk from parking on Ponderosa.
Lakes/Reservoirs 1) Gibbons Creek: The best bank fishing I've found near B/CS is at Gibbons Creek, about 20 minutes East on Hwy 30 from College Station. I've caught a few decent bass from around the boat ramp and the point by the spillway.
2) Lake Bryan: West of Bryan, I've never been, but from what I've read here and heard from others is the fishing is mediocre from a boat and poor from the bank.
3) Somerville: Nice lake, South on Raymond Stotzer/FM 60 about 20 miles. Two state parks and I believe six private parks to choose from. Most of my time has been spent at Big Creek Park (private) and Somerville State Park. My favorite place on Somerville is on the backside of the spillyway. There's usually a crowd but if you can get it mostly to yourself the crappie usually aren't bad.
There are a couple places I know of on the Navasota river where you can park and fish, but I've never had much luck at those sites.
Hope that gets you started. I just moved from College Station to Huntsville and trying to gather info on places I can fish within about 20-30 minutes from my apartment. New job is making time tight, but the options are apparently extensive. Now if I can find some out of the way public access sites on the creeks I'll be in heaven.

I lived in Madisonville for a few years..years ago. Lake Madisonville has large population of large mouth (or at least it did ). Only problem was it was becoming overgrown with vegetation..it might be worth the drive to check it out.
