I know I picked the wrong time of the year to learn how to catch hybrids, especially on Palestine, but finally managed put three nice fish in the boat this morning. The picture sux but it's the best I had.

Top: 25.5" - 8 1/2 lbs
Mid: 22" - 5 lbs
Bot: 22" - 5 lbs

The 8 1/2 # is now my new PB!

Now thats is some respectable hybrids there. Good job. Tell me more..., deep water, middle of the water column? Bait? Did you see many floaters today. Glad to see hybrids are being catught right now.

Nice fish. The 25.5" pulled pretty good? The second fish really doesn't have broken lines. Someone asked on another thread about a fish I had caught that looked the same, but never really got a consensus? Striper, sandie, or hybrid? Striper or sandie would be a lake record, right?

I figured the 2nd fish would get some comments. There wasn't a broken line on it anywhere and there was a very narrow separation between the tooth patches. I first thought striper but there aren't supposed to be any in Palestine right??
I located the fish in 19-20 ft of water and they were up about 3-5 ft from the bottom. Started chunkin slabs and sassy's but couldn't buy a bite. Pulled a DD-22 rod out and started trolling it through the area. Caught a 22" first, then a 16.5" whitey, then the 25.5"' and the other 22" last. The 25.5" dang near jerked the rod outta my hands when he nailed it. I knew he was nice and then seen him on his first trip up to the boat, third time in I finally had him wore down enough to get him in the net. Man that was some kind of fun and yes I'm hooked on Hybrids now!
Yeah I saw some floaters today but not as many as Steve mentioned in that other post.

Yeah they pull like a freight train! Helluva a lot more fun to catch than those green fish too imo.
Mo and ATM97 keep telling me not to get discourged tryin to catch em in this hot weather cause it will get real good when it starts coolin down some. Wish October would get here, it should be a fun fall.
