 Lowrance 520c Settings

I've had this unit for about a year and have messed with the settings over and over but always seem to make the picture worse than before. For ease of use I've just been running automatic settings, is there any suggestions about settings that any of you would be willing to share?

first make sure you have the newest update for that unit. Go to the lowrance website for that down load.
then put your unit in shallow water mode
1. ping speed 75
2. noise reduction low
3. surface clutter low
4. color line 72-74
5. chart speed 100
6. sensitivity- console run on auto, but if you like run on manual, try 72-78 %

Thank you Mr. Gilstrap! I will definitily try these settings out! By the way, if you don't mind me asking, are you a member of the Owasso bass club? Saw someone with a Lowrance wrapped Ford.

By the way, does it matter whether the transducer is thru hull or transom mounted with these settings?

Shoot thru hull ducers will generally require a little higher sensitivity setting compared to a transom mount.

Yes, am member of the Owasso Bass Club. I don't get to fish with them very much, because all the conflict with other tournaments and other special events. That Ford Lowrance wrap is my ride, next time you see me stop by and say HI.
Team Madmac is right on sensitivity, Thats why gave you a range. The keys installing a thru transducer is how much fiberglass you grind down and placement..

yes, but dont worry about the shallow water mode. 334 does not have that option.

Jason, I got an SD card to unstall the updates but the unit will not recognize the SD card. I went to 'transfer data' but the unit tells me to insert an SD card. I got a PNY brand SD card, should I use a different brand?

Jason,are those settings good for a HDS5? I matched tne transducer and put it on shallow water setting ,but have not touched suface clutter or noise reduction yet. Also my ping speed is set on 15 i think. I will recheck but i have not touched it ,its as set new. I just bought it from BASS PRO 2 weeks ago. Also ,i get a good reading to 39 to 41MPH ,after that not so good. Ping speed to low? Thanks in advance,Rob.

Thanks in advance,Rob. most part yes, but there's few things to change. ping speed 18-19 color line same 72-74 sensitivity 72-78 or 88-92 or run in auto sensitivity noise reduction and surface clutter both low

Thanks Jason. It sounds like i am in the ballpark,(picked up on basic set-up from your other posts). I bump up the ping speed and turn on noise reduction and surface clutter (low) and will check it out sunday.
