Hey Guys, I am staying at a buddy of mine's on I30 and Hulen, West of downtown Fort Worth. Would someone mind giving me the best route to get to Holiday Marina on Tawakoni?

Thanks

Here's the route of least resistance from where you live:

Take I-20 east to the exit for Highway 47 to WILLS POINT (east of Terrell about 20 miles).

Exit onto Hwy 47 north to Wills Point. Go straight across the intersection of 47 and 80 at Wills Point, crossing the railroad tracks. Go thru town to the second stop sign. There's a minimart/gas staion at this stop sign.

Turn right and continue following 47. You will come to the intersection of 2475 after about 7-8 miles. This is the turn-off for the state park area at the end of this road (left hand turn). It has excellent ramps with docks.

Or you can continue on 47 from that intersection to Holiday Marina. You will then pass another intersection (Hwy. 1395 - on the right) and the Holiday turn-off is about exactly 1 mile on the left from this last intersection. It will be at the end of a tree line (on the left), so be prepared to slow down and turn before you get to the end of the tree line.

There are launch fees at both places. I think Holiday's launch fee is $2-$3 and I'm not sure how much the fee is for the state park, but probably $5 or more. They have ice at Holiday as well as baits and drinks/goodies.

I appreciate the directions. I have launched out of Holiday before, but I came from Greenville, and didn't know the best route from Fort Worth. Thanks for the help.

Catch 287 south out of Ft. Worth off I-30 to get to I-20 east.

You couldn't pay me enough to drive I-30 thru Dallas at anytime of day or night...I-20 should be a breeze compared to I-30.

That sounds like a good route to me. How long will it take at 4 or 5 in the morning on a Saturday?

I can run to Terrell from I-20/820 in about 1 hour. I figure pulling a boat you might have a 1-3/4 to 2-hour drive to Holiday from where you're at. Jump on 287 south out of Ft. Worth and pick up I-20 that way.

That early in the morning you might be better to stay on I-30 to Holiday and bring the I-20 route into play when you go back home.

At any rate, I don't envy you your drive. You guys are more than welcome to make the drive to Terrell on Friday evening and crash at my place for the evening, then leave outta here early Saturday morning. We have a spare bedroom and bathroom. Won't cost you a thing...let me know.

It'll be like "downhome" evening if you do...my wife is from San Angelo and use to live in Littlefield..

I will talk to my fishing partner and see what he thinks. Your one heck of a guy to offer, but I don't think I will make it in to Fort Worth until late, either way, I do appreciate the offer.
