FZ1 if you can catch them so good it should be a easy payday or maybe you can't catch them?

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

I can see how a bunch of dummies with boats would be out there really screwing things up. I don't have a bad temper but the first sucker that runs into my boat on 26,000 acre lake is getting punched unless he is really big and looks like he just escaped from prison. Then I'll say "oh excuse me sir, let me remove myself from your presence." However, my fishing buddy is a weight lifter and has a fairly bad temper. I think I may find a better tourney to fish. I've been fishing jackpots and would like to go to some tourneys that pay a little better to win. Anyone have any good tourneys they really like in Texas or oklahoma?

I think thats a wise choice machine. Fork is a great lake and handles a lot of tournaments but the McDonalds is just insane even if you fish the lake all the time. Not to mention finding a place to stay out there this late in the game is nearly impossible. There are however other tournaments coming up out there that will be a little more hospitable.

The TFF is having the Lake Fork 3 fish Summer Slam on August the 28th http://www.basschamps.com/basschamps/tffDetails.cfm

There is also the Berkley which is a similar format to the McDonald's on October 23rd-24th. http://www.basschamps.com/basschamps/berkleyDetails.cfm

Both of these events are ran by Bass Champs which runs a great tourney.

Now don't these guys scare ya, come on down and join us, its like a big family get together, complete with idiot brother in laws, selfish cousins, know it all step brothers, and I'm the greatest bass fisherman/boat pilot nephew you ever saw. Let me give you a rundown on how it is, you see I have fish MD's for years on fork, although by no means an expert, I can tell you what to expect. Weather wise, not to bad, except for the occasional Hurricane that blows thru, or the 6 day downpour of monsoon season, or the 60 mph straight line winds, that run North/South or is it South/North, or is it straight down the lake, sometimes I forget, oh yes even the first Blue Northern that sometimes comes on the first day of the tourney and shuts all your fish down. Sometimes the poor
Dirt farmers need water for their crops, and they open one, two, or even three gates for them and all is happy

Running the Lake- no problem, got plenty of markers, (see above statement), except sometimes they might be 50-60 yes off, but thats to be expected right no problem, just
Remember they did clear about a of timber from the lake, oh and be advised I think there is a 70-75 mph speed limit on there also, if your coming from up north be sure and
Hit 635 and 75 at about 5pm, why? This will prepare you for the running of the lake
Just at the previously mentioned speeds

Fishing Spots- dont worry, everybody within a 9 state area knows exactly where that spot is, besides with all these people in your top secret spot just think of the fellowship you can have while youre fishing this famous lake that is such a well kept secret, you showed up 4 days early just to rent a guide for 2 days so you could even learn of this spot to begin with and when you do catch that 9, 10, or even 11lb bass 4 days before the tourney, make sure you take plenty of pictures, just a reminder.
And make sure you eat at the old Mosiers place, and leave room for the best pie around.

To recap: pay your fee for the tourney, with that you will get to see a Circus better
That P T Barnums, fish in weather you would never fish in again, go with some of the
Best guides in the country, learn fishing tips and spots and fellowship and eat some of the best food around, catch your personal best even before the tourney. Go home broke
But 8lbs heavier, what fun

I wouldnt miss it for the world

I fish lake eufuala in oklahoma as well as lake fort gibson, lake tenkiller, and the arkansas river. The accident was on lake eufaula. What happened was this guy periodically gets drunk at the marina bar. He drives his boat to his lake house to avoid the highways. In order to get to his house he has to go through this place where the lake sqeezes down between two big rock hills we call the cut. He had a twenty foot champion with a 200 yamaha on it and he was going full blast on a moonless night. He missed the opening by about twenty yards and ended high up the bank on some big rocks. I have pictures but I haven't figured out how to get them off my phone. Hell of a wreck. It took us about an hour to get him down.

I`ve fished it the past two years, and plan on fishing it again this year. Personally i didn`t find it that bad. The best advice I can give you is to buy the boat lanes chip @ www.boatlanes.com and run the guide lanes as much as possible. I was amazed at how few boats ran this route last year. But, if you stay on the main boat lanes it can be a circus. I also fish as far away from LFM as I can. But to be honest, if you have never fished the lake then I would probably pass on it. Although, most winners have won on their first year to fish it.

I'll pass on the McDeath... I mean McDonalds tournament. This is one tournament I will avoid like the plague. My friends that live at Fork leave for the weekend and come to the city when its McDonalds time if that tells you anything...

Mr James Henderson made some great suggestions of other tournaments that draw big, but not to big, and still offer a great payout.
