Thanks for a great bass lake Lubbock. Butwhen a crapper gets built I will bow down. But till then I will always take my kids camping at Ivie. At least it is a family friendly lake.

MONEY!!!! It is going back to the City of Lubbock. After having a city manager that pretty much summed up the definition of "lubbock official" the money will never get back to the lake. Commies is pretty close, we have some real idiots on the council, (yes, some with conflicting interest) that will never allow any kind of progress at hte lake. Problem is we can't get them out of office. Wish we could convince more Tech students to vote.

My goal in life is to move back to Lubbock and take over Diane Selby's job. She is lake manager and has no experience. It would help if they had people in office that have experience with boating and fishing on lakes. This is not the case. But I must take up for my hometown, this was not built for recreation first. It is a water supply for the next 100+ years....just if they can figure out how to pump the water where they need it. Recreational fees are just another way to recoup money on this huge project. If I were in charge, facilities would have been built, as promised. Start my campaign...

Well...first things first, you gotta convince my wife that life in Lubbock or Post would be just as convenient as it is for her here in the hated metromess. Seriously, this thing could be turned around if the right people were in charge.

Complaining about paying $20 to fish Alan Henry........priceless Don't worry Jared, after all the publicity and arrogance of some promoting Alan Henry as The Premier Bass Lake in Texas, aka the next Fork, people will come from far and wide and you will see the fishing decline. Once no one wants to go there anymore because a big fish is now considered 5 lbs, Lubbock will have to drop the fees. Then we can get in and no one will gripe about the fees, but they won't be able to catch the fish anymore either. For those who doubt this would happen, study Lake Ivie, also known as the next Fork for a time, before it was hit so hard it couldn't take the pressure. It is also about 6 times bigger than AH, and actually has a ton of offshore structure to fish. If it couldn't hold up, AH doesn't stand a chance. I just got my Bassmaster and realized I was looking at the death of a lake. I got my pass and am ready to go, call me sometime and lets go to the lake. I got on a pretty good pre spawn bite last year, looking forward to some of that again.

Chris, I kind of felt like I was reading LAH's eptitath? when I read that article. It sure made LAH sound easy. Just come on down and catch all the 10 lbrs. you want. We better treasure it while we have it. Haven't seen you in a while. Hope everthing is cool your way.

For the Alan Henry folks.... Stake down some bed springs as crankbait collection devices. That way you too can profit from the coming herds. Good luck with the crowds and good crankbait collecting!

LbkSmallPaul, Things are definately looking up for me this year. You may remember last year my son had to have hip surgery for a rare disease. That set me back a lot more than I expected, emotionally and finacially. We just got a great report on a follow up visit mid December that he is going to be just fine. Felt like a 500 pound anchor came off my shoulders!!
Looking forward to fishing a little this spring, hope to see you on the lake. I might be able to pick your boat out of the crowds, sounds like we are going to have to take a number to enter a cove. (Insert trumpet blowing TAPS here!)
Too bad too, I had spent two springs learning some things that I was hoping would pay off for me this year. At least I have a few nice memories!!

Speaking of that article about LAH, anyone in Lubbock know where to get a BassMaster magazine? Im supposed to be in it this month for a sharelunker I caught last year and cant find the magazine anywhere. The only one available is the 2006 techniques issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -Mike

Mike, There was only 1 picture of an Alan Henry Bass. I think you are too young to be the man holding it. It could be you tho I guess.LOL It does however tell the story about you catching it on the Crappie dock. later
