If your 360 light isnt above your head, it will be difficult to see during rough-water/fog. Still way cool though, I sometimes use a clip-on green light for cast-netting bait at night.

Is that the right green color to attract fish? I can just imagine that in the dark. Way cool. Think I will keep my overhead light though.

oh yes my light is tiny, and it works great for minnows and some shad. His rig should be top notch for attracting fish.

Chess has the brightest lights I've seen on a fishing kayak...and the bat signal staped to his forehead causes temporary blindness.

It will work great in real life, but does not qualify for the game wardens. The 360 needs to be on stern and white, Green mounted on the vessel indicates they are looking at the starboard side of a power or sail boat. I am not overly worried about getting run over by someone when that thing is on no matter what the law says.
That being said I have one very similar on one pro angler and have been checked at night by a GW. he was more interested in the light than the law, He did point out that I was not in compliance, but since I had a proper 360 stern light also he just ignored the green. It lit my yellow kayak up light a giant christmas ornament and I don't think you could really even see the stern light when the green is on.
I like your look a LOT more than the stern light. That thing should kill crappie in the night. Great photos ! Mine has only been wet twice, but it sure drew shad into my net range on Texoma. I have a small lake at my house and testing happened there a lot. Bullheads and brim came in almost instantly.
These LEDS are going to change night fishing all together.
Thanks for sharing. Phill

Just a catchy title, the 360 lights should not be replaced. We understand the legality, these are actually used when you get set up and ready to fish. Here is a video of some of our lights in action and the green color does attract baitfish. We are working on the overhead 360 light as we speak. Thanks for the compliments, this kayak will actually be on display for Austin Canoe and Kayak at the outdoor show in San Antonio this weekend. http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=147347Carver, share the pics of your ProAngler. I am curious what did he tell you about the green lights not being in compliance? Which law did he quote? Sounds to me like you were in full compliance with the law with your 360 light blazing.

The white 360 was fully legal.
It was the presence of the green that was not legal. If I had green on one side and the red on the other, I would have gotten by. Green lights and red lights are reserved for navigation lights which indicate that; 1: you are a boat in motion (even if sail) 2: they indicate your point of reference/direction of travel to the other marine traffic which in turn dictates right of way when encountering other craft.
Texas (and coast guard) Night-time Navigation rules say: "A green and a white light: When you see a green and a white light, you are the stand-on vessel. However, remain alert in case the other vessel operator does not see you or does not know the navigation rules."
This means that when someone see a green and white light, they have the right of way and expect you to yield. If the crappie are biting I will probably not see them and get run over anyway. ( just kidding here, I never fish in navigable water anyway. If they run into me, they have already run over some trees and bridge pilings anyway.)
Like I said he was really nice, but I am now fabricating some reflectors/shields to bring my light down into the water and kill the direct line of site to the sides. I will still be really visible and glowing green, but legal if they cannot see the source of the light. Making this reflector does not really bother me because I will get a little better penetration doing this. If that works, I might back off a few leds and get a few more hours out of a standard 8 AH battery. Right now my full set is pulling about 1.6 amps. Even in my dark water lakes I have far more than I really expected or need. I hope to get it down to under or around 1 amp total draw.
Take care, Phill

Carver is right, they could ask you to turn them off...by law you have no choice. I think if your not trolling crankbaits across the lake at night your ok.

I'd rather have my green lights under water a foot or two... just my opinion..
