I'm just so confused I seem to change my mind daily. Question is if I'm going to put my money into a particular brand of rods which should I choose?? I currently have a mixed bag of falcon, BPS and St croix with the majority being St croix and I'm pretty happy with them and the customer service is great and its a good product. Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should stay with them or try a new company with perhaps a better all around product.

never fished St. Croix rods, but I hear good things. Falcon would be a safe bet. I have been impressed with their whole line up. I have an original, a lowrider, and one T7 with two more on the way.. Lot's of variety there for anything you'd want. There's a lot of good rod companies out there, any way you go, you shouldn't be disappointed

Why do you feel like you need to go with one rod company? Find a rod that works for what you need it for. It doesn't matter who makes it if it works for you. If you decide to go with someone other than St. Croix, does that mean you sell all of those and take a loss and buy all new another brand? If so, you have a lot more disposable income than me.

If you are happy with St. Croix, just stick with them they are fine rods. And it sounds like you are pleased with the rod itself and the company.
If you do decide to change I hope you would at least give CastAway rods some consideration.
In the late 1980's Billy Kistler began CastAway rods, as a new rod company they sponsored a few small tournaments one being a couples circuit. I was lucky enough to to win one in 1990. I have been fishing with CastAways ever since, and got lucky and was able to get on CastAways Pro staff a few years back.
Billy later moved on and CastAway aquired new faces. They are still built in Montgomery, Texas in a small factory. All the higher end rods (ie. XP3, Skeleton's etc) are built in Montgomery, even the reel seats are manufactured in the USA. This is one reason I have stuck with CastAway all these years. Very few rods are made in USA anymore, I do think St. Croix is still one of them though. If you ever get a chance and are down in the Conroe/Montgomery area you should go to the factory, they will give you a tour and are happy to do so. You will be suprised and pleased at the care and attention to detail each and every rod is given about as close to custom as you can get in a production rod. If you want any more info just let me know, I can answer some things, or call CastAway and talk to Scott Luft he is the man in the know VP of manufacturing. KENNY

Awesome guys I appreciate all of your input and like some of you said I am happy with St croix. The only reason I would look to change would be to support a more local company which I know me buying 5 or 10 rods from one particular company doesn't necessarily "support" them much but I guess it would just make me feel better about my equipment if it was made close to home.

Try a falcon made Oklahoma USA, the bucco is a very lite and sensitive rod.
One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

RowdyBass, if you want the best quality while supporting your local industry, consider having customs made from the blanks you like best.

I would definitely consider that if the price was pretty reasonable. For some reason "custom rod" sounds expensive lol. But where could I look into something like that?
