I caught a dam nice crappie the other day throwing a cast net! Anyone out there had a similar situation...it kind of startled me!

Many times if you get caught keeping it you go to jail and you don't get to pass go.

I think I've caught at least one of everything in the lake at least once. A few highlights:

Six crappie all over 14" on one throw
100+/- 4" hybrids/whites in one throw
6 lb hybrid
8.5 lb LMB
8 lb goo
32" yellowcat
Too many gar, buffalo, carp, and small catfish to count.

Like Johnny says, you better just shake um out.

+3 to throwing them back. Its pretty cool though cause you never know what your gonna get.

just wait till you get your first water moccasin!! thats when its reallygets interesting especially if you dont notice it and you dump it in the floor!!

I finally caught a snake a few years ago, I saw it right as I let the net go. A real "Oh S&*)" moment.

The mocassin thing is pretty true. One time I was bank fishing, and noticed a rope going in the water from the shore. I pulled it out and realized it was a cast net. The further I pulled I realized there was a snake in it. After making sure it was dead I took a closer look and realized that it wasn't in it but instead stuck to the outside of it. I pulled it off the net and out of it's mouth came a minnow intertwined in the net. Apparently it went after a minnow caught in the net and when it tried to swallow the minnow it sealed its fate...

I recently had so many crappie in 1 throw that i could not pull the net into the boat.
I opened the net and released the fish, backed off and started casting a jig in the same area ended up catching at least 30 crappie. all released

Casting for bait on Granbury Saturday morning, I caught at least 50 4-6 inch stripers in one of my throws ...... I guess that's why the shad were busting the water ......

I caught a 15 lb carp one time! Talk about a fight!

I caught three needle nose gar in the net at the same time. What a mess that was! Just as I would almost get the net untangled from the teeth of one, the others would flop around and get the net all tangled up again.

10 lb catfish. When it hit the bottom of the boat, it went nuts! empty beer cans flying everywhere (my younger days!)
