I like G Loomis Rods so dont get me wrong but certain rods need the eyes spaced differently to maximize the action. I just broke my custom built DS 820 Drop Shot Rod thats won me a lot of money. I had the eyes spaced to maximize the blank and theyre telling me that they dont sell or replace blanks anymore. I know this is really Shimano policy taking over what was the best rod blank company around. Now all theyll do is offer me a credit towards a new rod but I dont want their version. I hate corporate America telling me that I have to take it their way or no way because theyre not using the rod, I am and I want it my way. I believe their going to lose a lot of business because custom rods are the way to go and I love their blanks they wont sell anymore. Shimano is going to ruin G Loomis from the inside out! Am I the only one that feels this way? Rmax

Nope it sucks.. wont buy another gloomis because of it.. and its why I now build all my own rods.. but the loomis blanks will be missed by builders, just not by me..

Loomis isn't selling blanks to ANYBODY now, that news was put out a few months ago. So that means the power tackle rods will be differnt along with many others that started with a loomis blank. Loomis is still the top of the line the new NRX is BEASTLY. But shimano is going to tighten off the outflow of rods. Your only going to get the loomis technology in by buying from loomis...

They also just raised their expediter replacement fee from $50 to $100. this makes me more sick that anything. ive got 5 grand in g loomis rods and have been loyal to them for year. only reason i can see for this is their increase in high dollar rod sales. now they have a rod thats 500 bucks (i love it, have 2 of them, thanks danny!), so i guess i understand that, but leave the cheap 200 dollar rods at 50 bucs.
Im alive.

From what I understand, Tim at Power Tackle rods saw this coming and has already found an extremely nice blank and has been using them for a while

Rmax After Jake and I fished with you on Fork (May09) I had Mike Hendrix build me the same rod as yours using the 820S. In February/March I wanted Mike to build me a Shaky rod using the 822S blank. Could not get the blank anywhere. I have found a used GLoomis 822S rod and will buy it if the blank is in good condition. If Mike is still in business I may have him strip the blank and build me another rod to my specs.
Sorry to hear you broke your DS rig. These are sweet setups.

There are still Loomis blanks out there if you know where to look. I'd also look at Gary's new company, North Fork Composites, for similar blanks.

Gary sells blanks under a new company, can't recall the name at the moment. His co provides Kistler with the blanks for the ZBONE

I enjoy several of their models, but as I replace them over the years, I will not buy Loomis products in the future. I recently had a bad service experience, and with the new increase in the expediter service, I'm done. I picked up a shimano cumulus today and was very impressed. Life time exchange as well, I think I am now a shimano guy.

you know, it really sucks that shimano owns the rights to the name now, because their sometimes bad customer service is hurting a mans name

Damn, I hate to hear that they have raised the price on the Xpeditor service. That was the main reason I was interested in these rods. I will be looking for a different rod in the future if they continue to raise their prices and terms to their "warranty."
Quite a shame too as these rods really are quality, but things do happen from time to time and I have used the Xpeditor service twice now. I have always been pleased with the customer service in the past and I hope that they will just leave the program alone.

G Loomis (shimano_ is currently suing the real G Loomis (Gary). It's a weird deal. http://northforkcomposites.com/blog/If you want a great blank that Gary designed, look at North Fork Composites. The HM Series are the next step up from where he left the GLX line.
The only true intercontinental champion.
