I am looking to get a new fish finder for our bay boat. The boat is strictly used for bay fishing only. We currently have a lowrance gps, but it recently went out so it is time for a new one. What Brand/Model do you recommend? Not looking for something top of the line, but about middle of the road when it comes to price.

Go to "GetFeetWet.com" and buy a Garmin or a Furuno. Maybe the "Bundle" for one of the smaller Garmins. There has been a few issues with Garmin's Sounder Module. Furuno makes the best fishfinders. Don't worry about the bay vs lake vs offshore. Get a 600 W and put the transducer in the right place. You'll be much happier and be able to see the bottom all the time.
I do offshore and I don't like the all in one units so I have a Garmin GPS and Furuno 582L (older 600 W)

I run a Raymarine 600 watt fishfinder and a Lowrance GPS/Chartplotter which I'm going to replace with a Garmin this next winter. Garmin plotters are so simple to use and have great graphics.
I'm with MakoT... The Furuno FF's are the best but if you're strictly in the bay it won't make much difference. If you're not trying to find fish over obscure structure in 200 feet of water while running 25 knots then you don't need to spend that kind of money.

On an inshore rig Garmin is hard to beat, unless you want SI, then grab a Hummingbird.
