I'm familiar with night fishing on Athens and have had some great success earlier in the season with the traditional night baits in the weed edges, usually up on the ramp end of the lake. It can be streaky, though.

Haven't been in a couple of months, though, and am going tonight. Anyone have any success on the Dam end of the lake or anywhere else in particular? Any particular depth, area, or pattern producing at night recently? Is the lake down a bit?

Love fishing Athens at night, especially when it's 106 during the day. Thanks for the input.

I just got finished tying on the black grape 10" power worm, black buzzbait and black spinnerbait, and that's usually all I keep on deck.

I've done a fair share of night fishing, just want to see if there are some new (to me) areas I have been overlooking. I'm taking a buddy out for his birthday and want to get him some bites.

With as hot as it's been the fishing has been down for me, even at night. For the buzzbait, that should work if it's windy, if not, I'd throw a black zoom frog. Look for flats with grass, top water will work well around areas like that.

As for the worm, don't be afraid to downsize and finesse fish for more bites if they aren't biting a lot. Look for dropoffs and brushpiles.

Went last weekend and night fished, it was pretty slow and they were very lethargic after being hooked. Half way to the boat completely giving up. A few weeks ago they were fighting like crazy.

Well they gotta eat sometime. Thanks for the input. I may try around the first island, behind the last island in the pads and maybe the face of the dam. Never tried the dam at night.

I would definatly have a drop shot on with a trick or finesse worm on.

Last Saturday night Athens was slow from the dam to the shallows. Caught two fish as the moon came up, one dink and one 4.5 to 5 pounder.

It was a really slow night for me. 1 14" bass and I tried several places, including a spot that has been historically great. I had one other bite that "may" have been one of the hundreds of bats swirling us that hit my line. Very little surface activity at any spot I went to. Tried a couple of lighted docks and many weed edges from the ramp to the dam.

That sucks, but if we get any sort of weather moving in, they will fire up right before it.
