maybe skeet and rick will just go and exclusively fish FLW.then see how much that boosts B.A.S.S. ratings.

Amen Rick. Its sad that a baloon in points at the end of the year can erase Skeets season.

He hit the nail on the head, nascar is hurting because of it among other things, the stands are empty and the television ratings are plummeting. Fact is the majority of fans DON'T like it(the same guy has won 4 years in a row, sound familiar), a playoff format just does not work in individual sports, its been a failure in pro golf as well. Its a gimmick and they definitely should not be calling it AOY.

I thought this was informative: Most BassFans know that the legendary Rick Clunn holds the U.S. Open in extremely high regard putting it right on par with the Bassmaster Classic (which he's won four times). The 1983 and 1986 Open champion and 3rd-place finisher this year today offered his thoughts on the cheating incident perpetrated by Mike Hart earlier this week. "It's a type of desperation that's sickening in a way," he said. "I don't understand that mentality and why somebody would take that kind of chance. We've had isolated incidences of it over the years, but sooner or later these guys always get themselves caught. "I think (WON Bass) handled it right, but if it were up to me, I'd have gotten a bunch of us old guys together who really respect the sport and we'd have taken him out in the desert and used the old Apache method of staking him to an ant bed. To me, that would be the fitting punishment." The incident in no way diminishes the esteem he places upon the event. "If I had one tournament to fish for the rest of my life, it would be the U.S. Open. The Classic isn't what it used to be because guys are getting so much help in that tournament and on the Elite Series. You can't get that kind of help on Lake Mead - you've got to do it yourself. "It's the toughest tournament there's ever been and the toughest there ever will be. In my mind, you cannot say you're the best until you've won a U.S. Open in July, August or September." http://www.bassfan.com/docktalk.asp?id=7405#7405

To me it would have been the greatest season ever if Skeet didnt choke at the end. You cant blame the system only for Skeet not being AOY. I like Skeet but HE didnt perform when he needed to. I like this format but also like they old way as well, I would be happy with it being either way. The current format doesnt give any angler a advantage.

Okay who wants to call KVD and tell him to turn in the title so Skeet can have it? Maybe Rick Clunn will do it,

So let me get this straight they take 12 of the best fisherman in the country fish two tournaments and they accumulate points and if you have enough in the end you win the AOY award.
Yep looks to me Skeet did a great job in the regular season, but it did not happen for him in the last two. By the way how did KVD finish against the best 12 the last two tourneys?
Just like Baseball, football, hockey, and Basketball the best team during the regular season does not always win it all in the end.
Congrats to KVD for stepping up and whopping some arse when it counted the most.
Just Saying.

This seems to be a big topic on here. I didn't pay that much attention to all the coverage of this but, in sports 99% of the time the mvp or other type award goes to the player on the team that wins the championship. first of all that's completely irrelevant and second have you ever heard of the Heisman curse?? Your stats are bassackwards!

Just to put in my two cents, I don't like Reese or Clunn. But I don't think you would hear KVD crying if the shoe was on the other foot. By the way , I don't like his yellow shoes either.

You work the 1st 10 months of the year, hit all the marks and have the highest commissions for the year but there is a special promotional strategy the last two months of the year and the guy with better then average numbers hits the jackpot for those two months and gets the 6 figure bonus (not you even though your numbers are better for the year), he also gets the new office with a view and promotion.
You would find a new place to work, end of story......
