For sandies I would say a humdinger as well, you can burn em' on top if they're schooling and drop them down too. As for hybrids and stripers...man thats a tough call but if you want only one second lure I would have to go with a slab (overall)and not my second choice a sassy shad, just had a little more luck with numbers but I have caught some fatties on a sassy in winter

Depends on if the lake has stripers/hybrids in it. If it does the easy choice is, chartreuse and white 1.5 oz prune picker style slab and .5 to 1 oz chartreuse swim bait. Won't catch as many sandies with such large baits but will catch some. If sandies are the primary target, same baits but downsize.

Topwater action? Just about anything in the box, but my go to is the zara puppy. Waiting for the topwater action, nothing beats a blue chrome rattle trap....

Fun that was and what a great class for the people who try to make it simple.

Sassy and Slab are my two sometime 4" sassy some time 5 but the slab catching bottom, top and suspended fish and the sassy will slow roll imtemediate retrive and rip it back the boat.

Anyway I thought that was fun and keep fish in
everyone have a great week,

This is an interesting topic, thanks for posting it Trent. flehan
I did some cursory counts and have compiled the data below from the 23 respondents:
Slabs 19
Swim baits 8
Tail Hummers 6
Top Water Plugs 6
Crank Baits 3
Live Bait 1
Other 3

Slabs were preferred the more than twice as may times as any other lure. Chartreuse was the most prominent color and 2 oz was the most prominent weight followed closely by 1.5 oz. Draw whatever conclusions you see fit from this information. smile smile
