If you have been avoiding the Brazos below PK because you think all the fish are dead from the kill this spring or because its 100 degrees, you have been missing out! I did a few miles down and back Saturday AM and saw a lot of fish, bass, catfish, carp, perch, shad, they are all there, of all sizes. I saw fish of each of those species representing this years fry all the way up to good size adult fish. For me, the fishing was slow and I only caught two bass but was encouraged by the fish I saw crusing in that cool, clear water. As long as you get out of your yak occasionally, you really don't realize how hot it is. Not to say that it wasn't me not being a good fisherman but according to the lunar tables, Saturday was supposed to be the worst day for fishing in all of July.

This first fish doesn't look like a LMB to me. Is it a spotted bass?

Get out there to the Brazos, you might surprise yourself if you have been hesitant b/c of the fish kill or the heat.

Take care.
Brady

I fished below Whitney last week and it wasn't slow at around 9 am and at around 7 pm

other times, except when we threw out gobs of minnows at tight cover.. waaaaaaa

Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.

I don't even know what to guess on the water temp but it was nice and cool coming out from the dam, cooler than other water temps around for sure.

Stephen... Did you catch many fish? Bass? Any good sized? Pics?

yeah the brazos is definitely cooler there than on a lake right now. Im guessing low 80's. The lakes are 90's right now and they are disgustingly hot.
