Add-a-seat is out of business due to insurance problems. I have one and it is a whole lot better than the rail type. If anyone wants to look at it or take it to build one just let me know.

OUCHNOT! All edges filed down. Any ideas for square plastic plugs to insert in the ends of the tubes. Looked @ Home Depot and Lowes. No Joy. Looking for suggestions here.

Nice setup Dave! After I lost my last seat in the lake I went and bought 2 matching stools for my front deck.

I enjoy dabbing in constructing ideas to help us on our projects. Not trying to pick apart anything, just a suggestion.

With no bracing on the lower parts of the legs, it looks like any shift of weight in the seat would cause the frame to collapse. I believe it would be a lot more stable if you built another rectangle frame to mount on the legs about 2"-3" off the floor or angle brace from the seat frame down to the lower part of the legs. In the PIC there is no support to strengthen the legs. In the PIC there is just the 4 legs sticking straight down to the floor, with nothing but a couple of screws to support the weight of 2 fisherman, and in our seats there is 2 - 250# butts sitting in those seats.

Looks good, and not trying to take a shot at your project. Just offering a old mans observation. The Grizzly that we bought, + 2 medium grade seats (could have went about $20 cheaper per seat) cost us $200 and that includes 2 swivels for the seat. If we would have been looking to save a little money, we could have got out for about $150.

Again, not knocking your project, just offering an opinion. I think with bracing for your legs, it will be golden. keith

Cheaper isn't always better. I like to do things myself. The commercial builds wouldn't fit my boat. Adapt and overcome. I thought about the braces around the bottom, but I have an idea to make some mounts to lock the legs to the floor of my boat. Don't always have to buy all the gadgets on the market.

I got the single seat set up from bass pro. I like it you can put them anywhere. I bought 2 and it works great.

Hi DB, I built one close to this design and it folded up on me when I set my first hook. It was a funny, I was on my back with a fish pulling like a train on my line. The second one I constructed was out of 3/8" plywood and 2X2's for internal support. I used gas tank brackets mounted to the deck for tie downs. Painted it camo and used the heck out of it for years. Good luck!
