Is tournament fishing like a gambling addiction? You place your bet when you pay the entry fee. You play your best hand when selecting your tackle and where to fish. You put together the best stinger and go to weigh-in. You play your hand at weigh-in to see who wins the pot.
The problem is it gets into your blood and you cant stop even when youre not cashing in. I lose a lot more than I win. I will never see all the money invested. Is it more for bragging rights and a few dollars to help pay for the next entry fee? How do you see it?

When I get it into my blood I almost cant stop even when Im bad at it. I score a few points then every thing falls apart and I cant catch a fish. For example the series Im currently in I had a good stringer in the first tourney, won first place in the second, scored a big zero in the 3rd and 4th. There are two tournaments I want to finish out the series knowing it could go badly; the addiction keeps me putting my money in knowing it could go badly again. It feels like its out of control; Im addicted to tournament fishing. They need to have meetings for people like me. Maybe they could teach me how to catch fish at the meetings.

I have to say it is more like a drug addiction. Constantly buying new baits, adding improvements to an already too expensive boat, looking for new rods and reels to buy and entering anything that is within driving distance. Amazed at how much driving distance had increased over the years. Luckily they have several meetings for these addictions. We have the TFF where most on here can pat you on the back for a good job and console you when you don't do well. If you need a more face to face meeting to help with your addiction go to any bass club meeting most will meet once a month.
I was on Fork most the night last night and now that I'm awake again I want to go back.....

I got mine over the counter, but I gotta say it didn't work. I spent the whole year getting spanked in Tourneys and that didn't work either LOL..

I want to start a new club with monthly group meetings Worms Anonymous. I can see it now; standing in front of the group head hung low admitting that I bought another bag of 10 power worms. Worms is a completely different addiction all together. Buying worms is a pacifier that holds you over when you cant get to the lake. Its a life line to hold on to while shopping at Wal-Mart with your wife, a new bag of worms will keep you going till you can get back on the water.
